To be honest, I don't even remember if I submitted photocopies or an original marriage license. My cover letter says 'copy' but that doesn't mean anything really. lol I have extra marriage certificates for various uses as well, so I imagine one of them was an original. But I'm not too worried about it. For the EAD and AP it's not needed anyways, except to show your name change.

Kimbear, I had to wait 2 months to send AOS because of several delays that came up, that I'll spare you all and won't bother listing. lol Don't feel bad. One month is nothing. My NOA is dated ONE DAY before my I-94 expires! LOL It's frustrating seeing people who applied when I originally WANTED to apply are getting their EAD and APs approved now, and I've only just received my first NOA. :( I'm happy for them, but just angry about my situation. But whatever. Nothing I can do. Just wait. :clock:

At least it's not several months like I've seen many people do. Eek. 2 months is really nothing in the grand scheme of things either.

*hugs* I still lurve you though! :(

Btw...how did the secretary of state go? did you get your Michigan license??

No, not yet! The lady I talked to in the afternoon wouldn't process it because the letter they gave me at Social security office is not the right letter. So I asked if they could give me the driver's license in my maiden name, she's like I don't know! So she sent my application to Lansing and she said I have to wait 2 days for them to call me. Nobody called yet. So we'll see, I may just have to wait until the immigration approves my name change on my SS card.

I completely agree Ashen! In 5 years time, the 2 month delay will really be so insignificant. Just imagine the actual wait to get here!!! And now, its like a bad nightmare that is thankfully over :)

Finally married... and still married... ;)

Whaaa??? If you get another letter from social security saying they'll change your name, or you get the new card, you can go back.

Where in Michigan are you?

argh..so will be a month before i can file for AOS..the clerk at the county office told us we are not allowed to hand bring in our marriage licence, in order to get our certificate..it has to be mailed and will take a minimum of 3 weeks to get it. /sigh. so 15$ for the first copy and 4$ for each there after..i'm going to need what..like 5 for aos ead etc? or can i just use copies of the original?

Wow...really makes me glad I got married in SC! Although we were gone for 3 weeks after the wedding anyways..I know that that probate judge would have gotten back the two they needed for the office a day after it was mailed to them. We also got to keep one, but it's not certified.

When I went to get a certified copy...(only $5) I got only ONE copy..then I copied the certified copy..*does that make sense*...I attached a copy to AOS, EAD and AP...can't remember if I said it was a copy or not on the cover letter. Anyways...all has been fine...got transferred to CSC...got my GC..no RFE for the original. I still have the certified copy, and I will continue to copy that, until I'm told otherwise...

Yes, but it will take a few weeks until I get a new card because immigration has to approve my new last name. I just filed for AOS so that will probably take 3 to 4 weeks if not longer. And the letter that SS office gave me has my new married name on it, and it says that I applied for a new card, but it cannot be processed until immigration approves it. I'm in Redford (Detroit area) and I went to Livonia Secretary of State

lol... oh dear, the nightmare is still not over for me and my husband by any means, but that's more suited for the vent thread

But yes, at least having AOS/etc sent away now is a huge weight off. I'd be stressing so much if we still hadn't sent it by now! I'm actually just pleased to let it sit back and run its course at this point. lol

and p.s... a ":luv:" to Danu lol ;)

Oooohhhh Plymouth is my favourite place around here! Last summer my husband and I loved to go there, on Friday evenings for the concert in the park :) We'll be doing that this summer too.

Cool. I've never done anything here in the summer. My husband moved here in August last year. I've been here for a little over 3 months & really like it.

There are a lot of people in downtown Plymouth on Friday nights in the summer. If you like that kind of thing, you'll be in heaven hehe
