No, the marriage license isn't enough for that office.

They want my EAD.

I know the bank doesn't need my SSN, which is nice, but my passport's still in my maiden name

I guess they take a form of identification and an old bank card.

And grats, Ashen!

I had trouble changing my name too. They asked for EAD, but I didn't have it.

I went back a 2nd time & told them I WAS allowed to change my name with a marriage licence...2 weeks later I got a letter in the mail saying a new SSN card made in my new name was being processed & I should have it soon. A week later it came.

I got my biometrics appt letter in the mail. I don't want to go downtown Detroit! :crying:

8/2/2021:  Mailed N-400

8/4/2021: N-400 received

8/6/2021:  Biometrics to be reused
3/15/2022:  Interview (successful)

Yeah the SSN office here wanted my EAD too. Here in CO they are very clear that they always want current, valid evidence of legal presence when issuing you any kind of document (or in this case reissuing it). Without a valid I-94 you really don't have anything if the state your in doesn't consider the NOA1's good enough. Pretty frustrating, that's for sure!

As for the bank account, my passport and SSN had my maiden name on it, but they let me put myself on my husbands account in my married name anyways. They didn't even care to see the marriage license! You may get lucky there.

They are behind on my EAD and it is FRUSTRATING! It seems every other January filer has gotten their EAD and AP. My daughter even got her AP. I have no idea what the holdup is, but if it doesn't come today I'm probably going to lose the amazing job offer that was extended to me 2 weeks ago :(

Argh, that sucks Miranda :( Maybe you'll get it soon! There's always hope.

It's so weird how you guys are getting your interview letters before your EAD/AP approvals. They must be really behind or something...

Rhiann- That sounds really really annoying. But, congrats on getting your date! At least you know what's going on with your case now.

Man I wish I knew what was going on with my case.

Congrats on the interview Rhiann, I know it's not ideal, but it's something!

Thanks Huggles! I've actually got an infopass appointment on Monday. My daughter's AP was approved 3 weeks ago, so I'm wondering what the hold up is with me. It's 1 1/2 hours each way to the USCIS office, but I really feel like I need to talk to a real live person (although I realize the chances of them telling me to go away are high). I fully expect for them to tell me that it's still within the 90 days processing... and when I remind them that my AOS interview is on the 80th day, then they will tell me to consider myself lucky and send me on my way. But I'm hoping maybe, just maybe, they will take a look at my offer letter, take pity on me, and somehow push things through. wacko.gif

Wow according to the USCIS tracking system our I-129F hasn't been approved yet. I guess I can't keep high hopes for them updating the status on my EAD, AP or AOS.

I hope your infopass appointment goes well Miranda!

I'm sorry for the situation you're in Miranda :( But... it is the risk that comes with job hunting before you get your EAD, right?... your entire case is still going through VERY quickly. I don't want to be the one to say it, but you're right. You should consider yourself lucky  That said, I hope something works out for you :) If it's not this opportunity, there will be others!

I posted this for the January filers, but I thought I'd post it here too for anyone who cares:

I went for an infopass appointment this morning in Fresno. The man there was very nice. He took a look and said that everything was in order, but he thinks that because my interview is coming up so fast they have pushed my EAD to the side and are not going to go forward with it. He said he would send them an email to see if it could be pushed along...

But he said my best bet was to make a case to the IO, let them know the situation, and ask if they could a) approve my EAD that day or b) stamp my passport with the temporary I-551. He said the IO has the ability to do both of those things, but it's really up to them whether they decide to do either (or do anything at all). SOOOoo I guess I will wait to see if I get an approval today or tomorrow... otherwise, it'll be all up to the IO. FUN!

I'm not sure how an infopass appointment will help you if you've only applied for EAD with in the last month or two.... I'm unclear with your timeline, but still. You can 'hope' for it... we ALL 'hope' for it when it best suits us (i.e. IMMEDIATELY), but we all have to respect processing times and can't expect special treatment.
