I still need to change mine to married name, but I wanted to wait for my greencard so I can get that thing off it saying work only with DHS authorization or whatever...

But I need it in my married name to get a drivers licence in my married name.

So irritating.

We can get that removed once we get the GC??? Wellllll considering it took over a month for me to finally get it in my married name...I'm just leaving it on there for now! the SSN office is always so busy, and you just never know how long your going to be there. I wanted my DL so bad that as soon as I had my EAD I got them to change my name.

For anyone else interested, I had my photo's done at Walgreens, and they weren't that bad. I think that maybe they want all those pic's when you send in AOS so that they can compare with the one they take at the bio.

Is there any need to have that removed from the card? As in, does anyone ever actually ask to see the physical card (outside of the DMV... but now that I've gotten my first, they won't ever ask to see it again)?

Like Joyce, our SSN office is so busy, there's at least a three hour wait to see someone, even early in the morning. I can't imagine being able to spend that amount of time there again after securing a job.

Hi all,

So I called the USCIS customer service line today and was transferred to an IO. She said that the case was pending and the last thing they have on file is my biometrics. The next thing to prepare for is an interview. I was dumbfounded and asked if it was at CSC and she said yes, but since I came on a family based visa, I need an interview (she was obviously just saying that from experience, I suppose).

Anyway, so far I have not received an e-mail saying that my case has been transferred back to NBC. However, in order to prepare for such a case, I just wanted to know from those who have experienced it how long it took from the case being transferred to having an interview date.

Thanks so much!

Tina

If the employer looks you up by it and it comes back needing the work auth then they can ask to see your's, at which point you'd have to show them the greencard or something...whereas without it you dont. From what I've gathered anyway.

I still haven't had it removed. Now that I'm working full time and only have vacation time, there is NO WAY I am waiting in line at the the SSN office on my day of or taking a day off to do it. I have never been asked, even when I got my jobs, for my SSN. All they wanted was my Greencard.

I'll probably remove it the next time I need to go back there, which is probably when I have my first child, haha.

I haven't had the conditions removed from mine either- I can't be bothered. If it cases me a problem in the future then I'll change it, but other than that I'm with you Sapphire

Tina- they call the USCIS information line the "misinformation line" for a reason. People have been given some really awful advice from it, and sometimes they just tell you things that are completely wrong. So, I really wouldn't take what the IO said and plan around it. Working at a national center and not a local office likely means they really have no idea what goes on, "in the field."

Thanks, Huggles. I think calling them did more harm than good, so I'm just going to stay put from now on. :)

I got an email lastnight saying my AP was approved. When I logged in this morning I realized it was not my AP, but my daughters. I called USCIS to ask if mine had been approved as well, and they said no. They put in an inquiry about my EAD, but I got an email back an hour later telling me that they are "reviewing it and a decision will be made in 60 days". Nothing new there.

I went for a second interview today and got a job offer for an amazing job. I told them I could start in 2 weeks, so I hope USCIS doesn't prove me a liar! I could probably push that up another week without them getting too upset about it, but I don't want to have to do that!

Waiting, waiting, waiting...
