I had to order a copy of my long form birth certificate (I realized I needed it right before I filed my AOS paperwork). I filled out the form online, and I had it in my hands 5 days later! I was very impressed!

I already ordered a copy last year and spent $35 in order to get it for the K1 interview. That's the one I'm talking about. Which now I can't find. So now I will probably have to order it.. AGAIN. To get another copy I will now have to spend $45 (since it's a 'replacement') which I'm sure people can guess from other things I've mentioned, I just do NOT have the money to spare right now... plus since I'm in the US right now, it will probably take even longer to get here. Siiiiiiiigh....

Anyways... sorry. I will try not to hijack the thread with my complaining. lol Congrats to everyone moving along with AOS nicely!

until you said filing one because of a move, I wondered if the AR-11 was anything like the AR-15.:innocent:

 Not so much Pauley!

Interesting to see where your mind wonders too...

Any chance they kept it at your interview? Do you have a photocopy - you can use that (even make a copy of a copy if necessary) for the AOS (I didn't send them an original birth certificate, I know that, because I only have the one and still have it). And, of course, I know you have checked all of the paperwork from the K-1 process, but maybe there is other paperwork you prepared or made copies of and the original is there? Did you renew your passport? Could it be in with your passport or a copy of that application?

Just trying to offer some suggestions to see if any of them help so you don't have to spend another $45 right now . . .

Thanks Kathryn. Unfortunately I can't even find the photocopy that we had made either. I didn't renew my passport because it doesn't expire until 2011. I found 4 or 5 piles of various papers and it's not in any of them. I'm seriously out of ideas. :( They do need the long form one right? I can't just copy my little card? This is stupid. :crying: They've already GOT the information! UUUUGH. I seriously have no idea if they kept a copy at the interview. I know they gave me back the original, but I don't know what was done with the copy (there was so much going on, as you all can sympathize with, that I just don't remember if they kept a copy).

On a whim, I decided to check USCIS' website for other offices in my area. For Orlando, it only lists one office (no surprise), but at a completely different address than the one listed on my biometrics appointment letter.

Erm..

The "new" one is listed a couple of blocks away from where I was expecting to be going, on a different street. Wouldn't they have known they were moving the office a couple of weeks ago when they sent out my notice?

I have a feeling I'm going to get lost. :(

I am getting a little apprehensive... no news yet on my I-485 application. Got the case transferred early February, and most of the Canadian VJ'ers who reported their case status indicated that their cases got resolved within a month.

I hope nothing's wrong with my application... :(

Finally married... and still married... ;)

When I checked the USCIS website it said my local office was in Philadelphia. When I got my biometrics letter I had to go to York (which is A-OK with me). So I guess their website isn't up to date!

I wouldn't worry yet. It took my case 4 months and there was nothing out of the ordinary about it. Just when I thought it wasn't going to be approved, I got the approval!

Removing Conditions

Sent package to VSC - 8/12/11

NOA1 - 8/16/11

Biometrics - 9/14/11

Well, the offices you go to have your biometrics done are usually not USCIS offices, they are independent application support centers that are run separately. You probably won't be able to find these online through USCIS's website- the one I went to in Denver wasn't listed either. Actually, the center didn't have any identifying features that would even link it to USCIS or DHS. It was a little one room building in a stip mall that just took your information and scanned fingerprints. The Orlando office you found online is the USCIS office that you go to to have your AOS interview (if you have one). It is also the office you would use if you wanted to book an infopass appointment or anything like that. So what I'm trying to say is- your local office and the biometrics office are different

Ooooh, thanks to both of you! I didn't have any idea about that, and sure enough, under the link Peachy posted, I was able to find my location.

That makes me feel a bit better.

Interesting- there is an ASC office in Grand Junction, but none in the southern part of the state. Pretty weird.

Congrats Rhiann! They sure didn't give you much notice...

I was sent to Boston for biometrics, and it definitely is an ASC listed on the website, which is different from the "Local Office" when I search my own posta-- erm, zip code.

So depending on which office type you search for on the website you'll get a different result depending on where you live in relation to all of them.
