Received both the text message & e-mail on the 24th, and then the letter on the 26th. Today it FINALLY let me track it online... which is about time! Now another round of waiting for my biometrics letter + interview.

(I can't wait to get my EAD & work already... not to mention my AP. I miss my family!)

You know we'll be happy to help however we can, Ashen.

I'm sorry to hear about the troubles you've been having. If your father-in-law is helping to co-sponsor, I see no reason why unemployment benefits for your hubby will cause any issue, nor would a traffic citation. Ben's gotten a ticket for blowing through a school zone recently (oi to that..) and it didn't cross my mind that it would cause any problems. Don't see how or why that would come up.

The forms are fairly easy to work on, I just found that waiting on the paperwork to actually fill out the forms was a pita. I had everything but the I-864 filled out because I was waiting for a month on Ben's tax transcripts.

ashenflowers, I believe it says on the I-485 (and most other USCIS forms that require a criminal history) that unless you were arrested, you don't have to report traffic citations.

NOTE: Unless a traffic incident was alcohol or drug-related, you do not need to submit documentation for traffic fines and incidents that did not involve actual arrest if the only penalty was a fine of less than $500 and/or points on your driver's license.

In other news, I got my texts and emails a couple days ago and can track my three forms online as of yesterday. :)

My I-485 still says Acceptance so I hope there was nothing wrong with it.

Sorry to hear about your financial problems Ashen. Sounds like horrible timing for you and your hubby :(

My husband got a similar ticket back in September for "failure to yield" at a four way stop. That ticket was total #######, I was in the car and the other guy waved him through. Pretty frustrating! Unfortunately it seems like cops in certain jurisdictions are more concerned with creating revenue then actually stopping crime.

I would think that the "criminal history" thing is a moot point anyways, since at the AOS stage you are filling for yourself and not being petitioned. It would be the applicants criminal history that would be the issue, unless there is something on the I-864 about criminal history that I never noticed. Either way, a traffic fine doesn't add up to any criminal history, so no worries at all.

I filled out all the AOS forms in less than half an hour, they are pretty simple. The most time consuming thing is photocopying documents (tax returns, marriage certificate, K-1 visa, I-94... etc.) all that fun stuff, and then organizing it logically.

Thank Huggles (and the rest of you who replied! :) ) Good to know that they don't really care about traffic citations. Did I mention that he got pulled over on Valentine's Day? That was good times. Needless to say we did NOT spend the rest of the night celebrating the way we probably would have had that not happened... ahem.

So yeah, over all it is a pretty horrible time actually. I'm almost ready to say EFF YOU to all of it and move back home. I'm not kidding. I wish I never moved here now, especially since he lost his job.

On top of all the other stuff (I haven't even given details on the whole story either.. it's just not worth it).. I seem to have misplaced my long form birth certificate. I have found EVERY OTHER PIECE of freaken paper imaginable related to the K-1 visa, but I can't find that. I can't even find the photocopy. Does anyone remember if Montreal keeps a copy of it? And why the hell they need ANOTHER copy to be sent with the stupid AOS? I'm going to have to shell out another $45 to order a replacement, and delay AOS AGAIN if I can't find this thing. I even found the police certificate, which is useless now.

Yikes, Valentine's day. Not cool.

As far as I know, Montreal doesn't keep anything. All of the paperwork you sent them, along with your original petition is in that brown envelope you surrendered at the POE. The contents of the envelope eventually get reunited with your AOS paperwork. When we went for our AOS interview here in Denver, the IO had all of our K-1 documents with him, so he could look back and see the medical information, my list of trips to the US, etc. So, If you end up with an interview, the copy of your BC will be there in all the documents, so you can potentially ask the IO to flip back to your K-1 paperwork to find it. When the medical "issue" came up at our interview he looked back at my Montreal documents, read the medical info and moved on.

But, you may be transferred to CSC (no idea what happens there...) or they may issue you an RFE for it. Personally, I would probably file without it and wait for an RFE, you might get lucky. Just a thought!

no no, that's what I meant. Sorry... like does Montreal keep it as in not give it back to me, and send it along with the rest of my stuff instead. I don't even remember what went and what didn't. I know they gave back the original birth certificate, but since it's AWOL, I wasn't sure if there was a photocopy kept instead. But, if you said that they had a copy of it there, that's a good sign.

The problem is, without sending a long form birth certificate with the AOS paperwork, if I get an RFE I'll just have to get a copy of the BC anyways. And seriously... me, get lucky with this process? You've got to be kidding. :P

Thanks though. lol

Well... maybe you're do for some luck? You never know

But I know what you mean now, and they should have kept a copy.

I was thinking more along the lines of- if you don't want to delay AOS anymore, file now without the BC, apply for the BC, and then by the time they issue you an RFE you'll have the BC to send in right away. But I guess it might not even be faster that way... And Maybe you'll find it!

I had to order a copy of my long form birth certificate (I realized I needed it right before I filed my AOS paperwork). I filled out the form online, and I had it in my hands 5 days later! I was very impressed!

Hey guys!

Do any of you know anything about the AR-11? Since I moved this past week, I know I need to file one to notify USCIS that I moved. It seems like I can just submit it electronically, so that's pretty easy.

They want to know, "Date when you last entered the US"... So, would that be the last time I came in after taking a trip back home, or the date I entered the US to live on my K-1? Any ideas?

Hi, everyone!

Dropping an update:

Sent in my I-130/I-485/I-everythingelse package on Feb. 23.

Yesterday, the checks were cashed, and I got an e-mail saying that my application was being forwarded to the National Benefits Center, and in 7-10 days I should get a receipt in the mail, and then I can check my status online.

Phew! First hurdle cleared! Thanks again to everybody who helped out with my insipid questions and especially those who steered me onto the right course! (As I was originally planning on getting married in Canada and coming back on a non-immigrant spousal visa, lol.)

Adam, cautiously optimistic

until you said filing one because of a move, I wondered if the AR-11 was anything like the AR-15.:innocent:
