yeah me too....we had to do a certified check because of the account the money was coming out of so I have no way of knowing when its been cashed or anything until I finally get my NOA's and its driving me crazy!!

So, I finally have all of the documents we've been waiting for to file... Of course, it all comes while I'm sick, so it'll just have to wait.

Okay, so I lied... the paperwork is staring at me and since I'm sitting here anyhow...

Question... although I know that I can send a copy of our marriage certificate (with original kept in case of interview), but what about tax transcripts? I have one each for the last three years and was wondering if I could just send in a copy of each and hold onto the originals? I'd really like to not having to keep ordering copies each time we file for something, and it's nice to have them in record since my hubby tends to be a little shredder happy and doesn't have any of that information kept anywhere.

yes you can send a copy of the tax transcripts. If they want to see originals, they'll request an interview and you can bring them to the interview.

I'm not sending any evidence, they don't ask for any in the instructions... so why take the extra time?

We didn't bother with the tax transcripts. My husband had pdf versions of his returns on Turbo Tax, so we just sent the 2008 and included a copy of his W2 and 1099...seems to be fine so far and hopefully will still be fine

Evidence is not required at this stage. Not worth your time or effort. If you get an interview, you can bring them evidence then.

We were approved with no interview and the very minimum information required. But, I think the reason we were approved so easily was because our package was extremely well organized and thorough. I did a cover letter, separated all of the forms with their respective requested information and if I was substituting not including anything (like the I-693) I included a letter explanation with it. For the tax information, I only included a copy of his taxes for 1 year and the W2 and we were fine.

Thanks!! Between K-1 and AOS, it all took about a year! Not bad. Could have taken less time had we got married right away, or if I moved sooner. I sure hope my notice tells me when to start ROC cause my brain is just not going to figure out that date!!
