Did you see that the letter also says "it is a great pleasure to welcome you as permanent resident" and it also says "CONGRATULATIONS"

So weird to feel accepted in the US and not being screened and searched and checked out :)

Congrats to Huggles, Rob and Mel, and Sapphire!!

I just got an email for an RFE!! ugh! I hope it's an easy fix they're looking for. I'm thinking it's for the I-693, and I think I *may* have sent the only copy I had. I forgot to copy it!! :bonk: I have my original card that the doctor filled out about my vaccines so I hope that's all I'll need to transcribe. We've travelling the last week, and won't be home until later this week so I hope to get the actual letter soon and find out. Yeeeessshhhh. Yay!! Congrats!! I propose a race... to see who gets the card first! We got our card production e-mails on the same day ;)

Joyce- It could be something silly and not the I-693 as Beans learned earlier this month! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. If it is the I-693 I think your own vaccination records would be just fine. If not, I think you could call the doctor in Canada you had the medical with and get them to send you a copy of their records.

Minniew- You know what? I'm actually kinda glad I ended up with an interview. It was really easy and it meant I got an approval a lot quicker than most people who were transferred. So its not the end of the world if you don't get the transfer, it may even work out better for you.

Mine's coming up on the 23rd. Kinda rough as it means we can't linger as long in the south as we'd like. Right now we're in MS near the Gulf of Mexico coast. We'll travel along that through to the Florida panhandle, then back up to SC. Hope to be home by Saturday, and we'll find out what the nasty...er..um...RFE letter says next week...

Interesting observation that my wife made that I completely missed. The offices in L.A. where they have the interviews are quite odd. It is a long hallway with numbered offices, roughly 50 of them. The part that I found odd at first was that each office has windows as walls, so there is no privacy between offices. Our interviewer asked us the usual questions, but every time there was something that required copies of something he would take forever making the copies. I had copies of said documents and offered them to him, but aparently 3-5 seconds is too long to wait and he would get up and say "thats ok, I'll just go make copies". Mel noticed that each time he would get up, he would go down a few offices and peek through the window/walls to observe us. Seems the interview isn't simply the questions they ask.

Huggles- I don't know which i would rather have honestly at this point, it's all in USCIS hands. Transfer means more waiting... But interview.... Well I'd honestly not do another one, my K-1 interview was stressful enough, almost didn't go home with approval. If I have an interview I would like my husband there with me this time, but depending on how fast my local office schedules.... (most recent one on timelines says around 4 mos) There's a possibility my husband might be gone :(

Rob and Mel- good observation about the interview. My local office is like that too it looks brand new and it's all windows surrounding the outside of the building too.

My bio appt is tomorrow!! Hoping for more action on my case afterwards!!

Is he being deployed somewhere? That must be a really stressful situation to deal with. I imagine that in such a situation you would be exempt from having him at the interview, since normally its required to have the USC spouse present. But that brings up a good question... if he's not there, then what would they be interviewing you for? Sorta strange. Its hard to ask questions to prove the validity of your marriage when one person is missing. But I'd think it would be pretty simple and basically a formality, no? But you're right, the stress of preparing for an interview is never fun. If it makes you feel any better, I thought it was just as easy if not easier than the K-1 interview.

Rob and Mel- That's pretty strange! Our rooms were very private. The building is really new and the only windows are on the door and the back wall. Our officer never got up, he didn't want or need copies of anything... But I do think he was watching our interactions a little closer than a normal person would.

Well, my wife and I had my AOS interview Tuesday morning. It was fairly simple. I was a little unnerved by how free-form it was. We did the raise your right hand thing and she did some of the questions from the AOS forms (you know, where I get to assure her that I'm not a terrorist and I'm not planning to overthrow the United States government). Other than that, it was mostly freeform. I think the longest part of the interview was introduced with the question "So what documents do you have for me?" or something like that, which was a little annoying because we had far more than should be necessary.

If I understood properly, it looks like the only hold-up is that I need to order a long-form birth certificate from Ontario, because they don't like the wallet-sized one (since it doesn't include the parents' names). She was stubborn about not giving a time frame for how long it should be after that gets submitted, except to say that their office tends to be pretty prompt.

So, I think I have all the information I need for the application, so I'll do that (even before I get the letter asking for the BC). (I've already gotten the information for my guarantor.)

Is good to have the interview behind us, even if it is a little frustrating to not be approved quite yet. (And in asking about timeline, she did say that my background check has come back, so it sounds like, once we submit the birth certificate, it will just be a matter of shuffling paperwork before I'll have the approval.)

Now I wish I'd gone ahead and ordered the long-form birth certificate. Oh, well. On the plus side, we weren't going to be able to get up there over the holidays anyway, so it's not like this is going to delay anything. (I have my work authorization already, but we didn't apply for advance parole.)

Yesterday was two tooth extractions, so today I'm feeling a bit better and once I transfer a top-up into my checking account, I hope to order the birth certificate later today. (At least that can be ordered online, so I don't have to wait for forms to arrive, etc.)

Sorry to read you didn't get approved but the positive side is that everything else is good so once you submit your long BC, it's all good.

They are a pain. BUt one last thing to do and you're done!
