They must really be pushing out hardcopies fast. Our NOA was dated for the 22nd and we got all three in the mail today. I remember waiting like 2 weeks for the NOAs from the K-1.

Such a useless little piece of paper but I <3 it so much. :luv:

Ohhh I hope they let you apply. Is this his first SSN? Sometimes they don't let K1s apply after they have married already and started AOS. They make you wait for your green card. If they give you trouble, ask to speak to a manager. Good luck! Let us know how it goes

Getting the SSN applied for was easy. Did that yesterday in 20 minutes at the SSA office and the lady said we could come back on Monday to pick up a slip of paper with his number to take to the SOS to get his Driver's License.

Bad news came today in the mail, I am not sure what is wrong with the check I sent to "U.S. Department of Homeland Security" for 1010.00 written with the amount "One thousand ten dollars and 00/100" but the only thing I can figure was the check was in my maiden name and I signed it with my married name (they wanted a "legal signature"). So I guess we mail the package out again on Monday with a new check (which has my married name on it!) and sign it with my married name. UGH!

Congrats on getting your greencard, Peachy!

I'm just waiting for my biometrics appointment to come ... mine was scheduled weeks in advance as the USCIS office here is crazy busy. I attempted a walk-in and was totally denied -- I'm going to try again this week (Wednesday, probably) and hopefully it will work as Dan and I were planning on going away for our honeymoon the same week the bio appointment is scheduled.

DOH, I put my fiance's birthdate as October ##, 2010. Uh, yeah, he isn't born yet. Guess he doesn't need to pay the biometrics fee, lol. So I fixed that on the form I-485 and on the I-765 and mailed off the package again with a check in my married name.

Don't feel bad, I do that all the time at work! But I try writing auto policies for people who aren't born yet...

At least it's an easy fix right?

LOL! Yeah...you are married now! Good thing you caught that error. Its bad enough having it sent back once...but twice? Sheesh....I'll be really happy when I get my NOA1 and know that this time they accepted it. Of course I overnighted this package to them twice now...like it makes THAT much of a difference I had to shell out 18 bucks to get it there faster.

Oh, yes, my husband, of course. It is quite the adjustment to say that but I love to say HUSBAND anyway!

No, it was only sent back to us once and we found two errors on 2 different forms with regard to his birth date.

I will be interested to know if you get the same MSC numbers from the Chicago lockbox or not with your second submission. It will make it easier for tracking it "online".

Hello, I have what I think is a simple question regarding AOS for Canadians.

I am a Canadian visiting my girlfriend in the U.S. While here, we decided to get married (ie. no prior intent of marriage or immigration, I came to simply visit her).

We're going to have a courthouse wedding this week (with a ceremonial wedding next year).

I plan on immigrating here. The question is, should I go through the CR-1 process or AOS process? The CR-1 process would require me going to Montreal which is less than ideal. Or I could stay here and go through the AOS process. The question I have is if this is valid for me, as I'm not here on a visa, just as a Canadian that's visiting. Does the AOS process still apply? And if so, can you think of any reason why I would still choose the CR-1 process?

Thanks,

Simmy

I meant it would have been twice if you hadn't caught those silly DOB errors. I'll let you know about the numbers as soon as I get the NOA1's.

You're right, and I apologize. I usually hate cross-posting. My logic here was that I wanted to ask the question specifically of Canadians, but cross-posting is cross-posting and I apologize.

No problem...I just know the Canadians are a wandering bunch and would see your post no matter where you decided to put it.

My husband's Social Security card arrived in the mail today - 7 days after he applied! I am glad that was painless. Finally the USPS.com website updated to tell us that my husband's AOS package was redelivered to the Chicago Lockbox on WEDNESDAY, July 28 at 6:34 A.M. USPS.com's tracking is certainly not the fastest since it is Friday now.

Yay for his SSN! I know we were super excited at how fast Mathews got here. He applied on Tuesday and got it in the mail the same Saturday. When I applied for my new card to reflect my name change it was the same way so I tend to think that my office is like a cracked out hamster, pushing those things out at the speed of light. Lol
