I got emails when I sent the AOS and then didn't get anything else until I went to the USCIS website and signed up for email notifications. Maybe you have to do that too.

Same for me...I got emails when I first sent the AOS Package and nothing after...I went also to USCIS website and signed up for email notifications but I didn`t get anything either...

I signed up for an account too but it didn`t work so I don`t know when I have touch on my case...

The only way I can see updates is when I check my case status and I'm glad that it works now because for my K-1 visa it has never been updated!!!

Have a good day!

Well, I haven't had any touches on AP STILL since April 7th (not that it matters, I can't afford to go home to visit). And haven't had touches on EAD since May 3rd, AOS since May 4th (which were just follow ups after my Bio I suspect). Giving up on getting anything by end of May... really need to start getting EI though.. that'd be nice... :( I know the system doesn't always update, but it's usually been pretty good for me.

So... apparently, whoever said that the AP becomes invalid after your I-485 has been approved was perfectly correct. I had it verified twice over the phone with USCIS today.

My only course of action is to book an InfoPass appointment and have them stamp my GC... but the earliest appointment is late next week. I leave Friday night!

I can't believe this, honestly. I so badly need to go home to visit.. and this happens. And the only reason I know of it is because, when calling to verified the umpteenth approval notice from USCIS on my GC, I decided to ask about the AP and she confirmed that I could not use it. How lovely.

So I can't really think of any recourse. I could call CBP and see what they think... though that could change when I actually attempt to cross back over anyhow. I could walk-in to the USCIS local office and get in trouble for doing so and have them turn me away anyhow.

Is it possible to make an appointment at an office other than your local office? We're going to be in Ohio for a week prior to crossing the border... Is it possible to make an appointment there and have them stamp my passport?

Ugh... this is so ridiculous, honestly. If I had my green card, why would I be using my AP anyhow? What purpose does making it invalid now serve? It's a big freaking bulky piece of paper... if I didn't HAVE to travel with it, I wouldn't...

That is sooo messed up. I haven't got a clue as to why we're restricted to travel anyhow...& now we find out that AP is useless once the PR card has been aproved?? And its taking so long for people to receive it.

I don't understand some of the rules/restrictions they impose...its really riduculous.

I too, was hoping to travel back to Canada (in June) & thats pretty much not an option anymore after learning this rescent news.

I think it's ludicrous, honestly.

I'm wondering what the repercussions would be. Would they just not allow me to enter? Would it have a negative affect on my already-approved GC?

Why must this ####### be so complicated?

I'm not really sure what the technical rules are, but you may want to consider PMing JillA Sam. She hasn't been on here in months, and I'm not really sure if she still comes on to check her messages. But, If I remember correctly (and I think I do...) she went home to Canada on a visit and had her GC approved while she was in Canada. About a week later she crossed the border with her AP and made it back into the US without an issue.

I'm not sure about making an appointment in Ohio, but I can't see that being a problem. When I went to an infopass appointment here in Denver they never asked to see prof of my address or anything like that. I would seriously consider trying that- you really don't have anything to lose.

1. I wouldn't trust that.

2. Every occupant in the vehicle must have Nexus...I don't know if her husband does.

I did make an appointment up in Ohio for next Thursday... so I won't know for another week, but at least it's something. I can't really see why they wouldn't stamp my passport... it's not like they need to approve me, I've already been approved..

In any case, I'll bring along all of my paperwork just in case and hope for the best. :(

So they could deny you entry at all? Which would be better I suppose as you wouldn't compromise your standing with the US, right? BUT, if they do let you in, you might risk your standing with the US?

It doesn't sound worth it to me but it's your decision and I hope it works out for you.

Why would you even risk it? I mean can't your family cross the border and see you? You have come this far, you have the answers, you know it could be risky. Why risk it? I don't get that sorry.

Hi

For me it makes no sense that we can`t travel with AP when the I-485 is approved...mine is not yet but I got expedite AP because of health issue...I bought my ticket and I will leave on June 8 and I have an appointment with my doctor on June 9...

I have no health insurance here because CBP Officer screwed my I-94 up...so I can`t get SSN!

So Now I'm wishing that they didn`t approve my I-485 before I leave and it takes so long before they send the GC what they expect us to do?

I hope we can travel with the EAD? I didn't receive it yet but I'm hoping to receive it soon...

Have a good day

No, actually, my family can't cross the border right now to see me.

I don't see how I'm risking anything major by making an InfoPass appointment elsewhere. Only repercussions I possibly see from that is either getting what I want - a stamp - or them saying no. So what?

I did read through the AOS forums a bit through somewhat similar situations, and no, I can't see there being any risk to my status here if they did decide to let me back in on my AP. However, I couldn't find any evidence as to if they didn't decide to let me in, so that alone would stop me from attempting it.

The entire thing is backwards, though. If everything temporary is void until I have my card in hand, does that mean I can't apply for jobs until they get around to sending it out?

Regardless of the stupidity, I'm taking my only option and going with it. Hopefully they will help me at the appointment.
