RFE - self employed joint sponsor

We just got an RFE asking for employment information for our self-employed joint sponsor. I'm not sure what to send with it - if we can't find adequate evidence for this joint sponsor, would it be possible to add another at this point? I have to wait until I hear from him, but I'm pretty sure he sent everything he had - but I do have other relatives who might be willing to be joint sponsors, if necessary.

You could submit another Co-Sponsor.

the letter said:

- The joint sponsor on Form I-864, Affidavit of Support, must be a United States Citizen, a United States National, or a Lawful Permanent Resident of the United States.

In order to process your application further, submit evidence of the joint sponsor's status.

- The joint sponsor's income on the Federal Income Tax return does not meet or exceed 125% of the poverty guidelines. The joint sponsor lists their current income on Form I-864 as an amount to be considered as sufficient, however, no evidence has been submitted as proof of the current income.

In order to process your application further, submit evidence of the joint sponsor's current income. Such evidence should include:

- Letter of employment stating the following:

- dates of employment

- nature of the job

- wages or salary earned

- number of hours per week worked

- prospects for further employment or advancement

- Pay stubs or other documentation of pay for the previous six months.

Now, the first should just mean including a copy of the joint sponsor's birth certificate, I think, but the second is a problem. He's self-employed, and even if his income isn't high enough he owns property worth enough that that should put him well over the guidelines (taking into account that assets only count for 1/3 of their worth, right?)

I'm also not sure how I should send these things. Include a cover letter? Copy of the I-864? Thanks.

Hmmm........ wy wife (USC) is self employed. She is also on disability from state teachers. Now did you send 3 yrs tax transcripts from IRS ? also if he is self employed he doesnt need to send any paystubs............... what does his line 22 of 1040 say ?

One more thing....... Its a common myth in VJ that a person is considered under poverty level , only if his line 22 is showing low. NO ! NO ! NO !

My wife as i said is self employed . Now she writes of the expenditure of the business and thus her business shows running in loss. BUt then USCIS looked at the figure before she deducted. Thus with her pensions and her business, before decuctions, we were far far above poverty level. All in VJ told us we need a cosponsor , but neither we got a RFE regarding I-864 nor did we need anything at the interview. Th IO said that she is pre approved.
