What happens if he files for divorce?

Hello everybody, this is my opinion, I wish it will help you. Ok, first of all, you have to try to postpone your divorce as much as you can, this idea is fundamental and very important. I suggest that you have to try to wait at least 5 months more. Let's say that if we put the worst of the scenario, he has to filled out for divorce in 4 months, let's say like an example; you only have to deny to sign everything, if he wants to fill out and submit the paper, the case of the divorce is going to enter, but remember you don't have your signature and will to divorce; you are not OFFICIALLY DIVORCED UNTIL THE JUDGE IN THE COURT GIVES YOU THE DECREE OR THE PAPER THAT YOU ARE DIVORCED; it is going to last much more longer for him to get the divorce alone just by himself. He would last at least 5 or 6 months easily. So let's put the calculator on, your case has about 1 or 2 months right now, add up 4 months more of postponing or delaying or like we say in my country, "touching him the ball", add up 5 or 6 months of the divorce case just filled out and submitted by himself. Thanks to God, you got about 10 months, that you have to be counting from this point. That is plenty of time that you can easily get your green card of 10 years. The best advice is: you have to try to think with the head, not with your heart, you need that green card for you, you just need to wait at least 4 or 5 months more of "touching the ball" to your husband. If he submit the papers of divorce right away, you can be in trouble possible. You have just to wait 4 months more, in case he want to submit the divorce, in that time that is going to happen, you are going to get your green card, so you win. I give you this big advice for you, DO NOT tell this to him, try to be the most lovely with him as much you can, just you need at least to act that way only for 4 months more, it is easy, I think is not difficult at all. Thanks, I hope you get your green card, bye and take care,

It seems like you are more concern losing your chance of having your Green Card that losing your life or your husband.

Just go on with your life, show-up on your Biometrics day, wait for your GC (if that matters a lot to you) then dump him right away.

It will all boil down to what you really want in life, the choice is yours... Go figure! You know your husband, and your real situation better than us. Goodluck.

And just exactly who do you think you are? If you do not have anything positive to add to the discussion, refrain from posting. Your comments are out of line and a breach of TOS. Reported as such.

Len is correct. Judgmental posts are unacceptable in the Upper Forums. If you have nothing useful to add to the conversation then do not participate.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

jcrom you have been reported by me(first time i ever reported anyone) because of your scandalous immoral and wrong advices you have given to the OP. You have encouraged a victim of abuse to stay and take the abuse, further putting at risc the mental and physical health and possibly the life of the OP. You are a despicable excuse for a human beeing and i feel sorry for you and even more for your spouse and this country to have someone like you. You should be ashamed of yourself and forever cut off from ever posting on this forum again. I'll leave it to the best judgement of the moderators to take care of you the way they see fit.

Oooops, sorry if it sound odd..... Okay, let me rephrase my point here:

In life, we have our choices. We're free to decide what we do really want in life. If you can still take it living with your husband and resolved whatever issues you may have with him, that's all up to you now. If you think that your life (safety) is at risk, have his abusive acts documented (medical, police report etc.), so if worst comes to worst, you and your quest for GC is protected. You can go on filing for your residency without him...

Don't miss your biometrics day. Never let your husband pull you down. Fight for what you believe is right. Protect yourself from any further abuse.

My apology goes to the OP, I do not intend to judge you in any way... as I don't know your real situation. I am just sharing my "solicited" advise. I say "solicited" because you put it on the open board...

Have faith, be brave, don't let anyone hurt you emotionally, physically and mentally. If you let him do it once, there is a tendency that he will do it over and over again. So you must put an end to it. If you love him and wanted to stay married with, set the boundaries.

Goodluck

let's avoid the personal attacks......it's difficult to claim the moral high ground when doing that.
