We were finally able to send the AOS package for my wife and step daughter and we received the NOA1 on the wifes packet but received a rejection notice for my stepdaughters packet stating that the check amount was incorrect. I sent 2 files with 2 seperate checks ($1,010.00 for the wifes AOS and $600.00 for the daughter) which is what I thought was the correct amount ofr the daughter per all of the USCIC site information and info. on Visa Journey, I am so confused now. Does anyone have a personal experience with this? I appreciate your help. Thanks. Brian

Depends on how old your daughter is, need more info.

Applicants under 14 years of age: - Filing with the I-485 application of at least one parent have a fee total of $600 - Not filing with the I-485 application of at least one parent have a fee total of $930

Did you send both the applications in the same envelope?

Is the child under 14?

USCIS website says:

Applicants under 14 years of age: - Filing with the I-485 application of at least one parent have a fee total of $600 - Not filing with the I-485 application of at least one parent have a fee total of $930.

The applications had to go in the same envelope so they knew she was filing with her parent. Otherwise they are looking for the higher fee most likely.

We originally sent in on check for the both of them totaling $1,610.00 and that got returned back to us a week later saying that the amount was incorrect and that it should have been 2 checks, one for $1,010.00 for Isa and one for $600.00 for the daughter who is 10years old. That is why I am confused, should I resend it back to them with the mom's NOA1 and the check for $600.00? But they are saying the amount should have been $305.00, does anybody know why this is?

Double post, I answered in your other one.

Why this is? Because they are wrong. I posted how to rectify this in the other thread by the same name

Thereason it happened, and they made this error, is because you sent it in two different envelopes with two different checks. I posted how to rectify it

When filing AOS for K-1 and K-2 together...file them TOGETHER, everything in one envelope and one check for $1610.00

Thanks Gary & Alla but we did file it (attempt #1) 2 filesin one overnight package with one check and it got sent back saying that the amount was wrong that we nneded 2 seperate checks (1 for $1,010.00 and 1 for $600.00) so on the next submission (attempt #2) Isabel's(the wifes) was accepted and the Isabella's (the daughter's) got sent back. I am guessing that the person who received the file did not know what they were doing and tomorrow plan on giving them a call and then resubmitting the daughter's packet with an explanation letter and copies of the wife's NOA1. Thanks for the advice.

I have the same basic scenario. My step-daughter is 7. I mailed everything in for both. I sent in ONE I-485, TWO G-325, TWO Medicals, plus passports birth certificates.

Anyways. It was all sent together with one check for $1610.00. It stated that the amount was incorrect and that the fee's are $930 plus the $80 for fingerprints.

Maybe I screwed up on the papers I sent in? I thought it was correct.

Any idears?

Rue2you - they will want one check for your wife and one for your daughter. Also, does your daughter have an approved I-130? When I filed the initial I-130 for the K-3, I only filed for Rin. So when we filed for AOS, I had to also submit the I-130 for Rin's children (filed concurrently with the I-485). So had to submit a check for $1,010 for Rin, then two checks each for the children (one for $600 to cover the I-485 and one for $355 to cover the I-130).

Also, make sure the checks are made out to "U.S. Department of Homeland Security" and not USDHS or DHS.
