Hello All,

I am filing a K3 visa and have yet to receive a NOA2 for the i-129f or approval of my i-130 but I was little worried from reading all the threads about police reports.

This may sound like a dumb question but is it adviseable if my husband starts requesting police reports now from all the countries that he has lived in (Ghana, Turkey and Cyprus) even though we have not recieved any other approvals or NOA2 for the I-129f and i-130?

And if that answer is a yes, my next question is, is there an expiration date of the police reports (i.e. if my husband's interview is next year, and he gets the police report 2 months from now, do you think the embassy will say that the police reports he obtained are too old?)

Thank you in advance to all the members for helpful, encouraging responses...

Also, if anyone could also share their experiences and/or advice on obtaining police reports from Ghana, Cyprus or Turkey that would also be very helpful to me and my husband as well!

It's too early at this point. They do expire, but I don't remember how soon. It may be 6 months (just guessing though). For the police report in Ghana, he'll need the letter from the embassy first. I don't know how long it will take getting them from other countries, but I would still assume that right now is too soon.

Getting the report from Ghana was fairly easy. He'll go to the police station in Accra and stand in a line of people getting the same document for the same purpose. There is one price for an overnight sort of thing and another price for a week wait time.

Getting police reports from other countires can be a hassle. We started on ours before we got the NOA2 because 1) we knew its not so easy to get one from other countries and 2) South Africa gives interview really fast (our interview was scheduled for 10 days after we returned the checklist via fax. I would wait on the Ghana one, but the other countires, I would at least look into how long it might take. Also see if your fiance has friends or family in the other countries to help him out. We had to do that as donig it the official way took like 6 months.

Also see how long it takes for interviews to be scehduled in Ghana to decide when to start getting police reports.

How we got our police report from Nigeria while in South Africa was to that we requested the forms (I think it was available on line) then he took he fingerprints locally--sent the forms and fingerprints to a fmaily memeber--who travelled all the way to Lagos to turn them in and then they personally picked them up. We sent everything DHL--because the first time we tried everything got lost. IT was an expensive endeavor--but the mail system sucks and if there is no one there to personally get it for you--it could take forever.

You can get the Police Certificate between 1-7 days at the CID headquarters in Accra. Their phones are 021-785120 and 779331. E-mail: cidpol@africanonline.com. Secondly, the expiry date is not on the report but the Embassy might request a new one if the old one is more than 6 months. I'll also advice that you ask your man to start researching on the other countries' police process in getting the reports. Hope this helps you. Good Luck!
