A.J needs to stop plugging in HDD and start reading up on free speech.

Funny how he fails to mention that most corrupt, poverty stricken cities in America are run by those with a (D) next to their name.

Actually here are a few statistics that show poverty and curruption by state (top 10) and party affilation of their politicians. Also shown are how the states voted in the last 3 presidental elections. Looks like Repulican states beat out the democratic states in poverty, most government subsides and curruption.

States with LOWEST per capita income according to recent US Census statistics:

1. Mississippi – $23,448 ®* (2008 R, 2004 R, 2000 R)+

2. Arkansas – $24,289 (D) (2008 R, 2004 R, 2000 R)

3. West Virginia – $24,379 (D)(2008 R, 2004 R, 2000 R)

4. Utah – $24,977 ® (2008 R, 2004 R, 2000 R)

5. New Mexico – $25,541(D) (2008 D, 2004 R, 2000 D)

6. Idaho – $25,911 ® (2008 R, 2004 R, 2000 R)

7. Montana – $25,920(D)® (2008 R, 2004 R, 2000 R)

8. South Carolina – $26,132 ®(2008 D, 2004 R, 2000 R)

2. New Mexico ($1.89) (D) (2008 D, 2004 R, 2000 R)

3. Mississippi ($1.84) ® (2008 R, 2004 R, 2000 R)

4. Alaska ($1.82) ® (2008 R, 2004 R, 2000 R)

5. West Virginia ($1.74) (D) (2008 R, 2004 R, 2000 R)

6. Montana ($1.64) (D)®(2008 R, 2004 R, 2000 R)

7. Alabama ($1.61) ® (2008 R, 2004 R, 2000 R)

States that show (one or the other have the majority one or the other). If both

show evenly then split between both parties.

These are hardly cities. A prime example is Detroit. The city actually looks worse than numerous other cities I have been to in third world countries. Dems (left wing folks) are good at rights issues. They're not good at the financial aspect of things. I have seen this time and time again throughout the world. Not saying repubs here are any better though.

They are classified as such in the US government statistics. Stats show over and over that RED states have overall more poverty and curruption. Not to mention higher divorce rates, teen pregnancy, lower educational levels and higher obesity rates. I do agree that politicians in general aren't great when it comes to financial aspects of governing, be they democrats or republicans.

Could that have something to do with the demographics of those places?

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

POOREST CITIES IN THE US based in latest US government census record:

1. Allen, South Dakota ®

2. Cuevitas, Texas ®

3. Brundage, Texas ®

4. Wounded Knee, South Dakota ®

5. Tobin, California ®

6. Los Angeles Subdivision, Texas ®

7. Tagg Flats, Oklahoma ®

8. Elmo, Montana (couldn't find)

9. McNary, Arizona (couldn't find)

10. Parmelee, South Dakota ®

While looking at the demographic of these so-called "cities", I stop as I realized that some of these "cities" have 349 or so people living in them. The subdivision, for example, has 83 people in it. The apartment complex down the road has more than that.

Pst pst DIARD,

Just drop it, when he sees something as real there is nothing on this earth that'll change his mind. Even if you post statistics, data from valid sources etc etc; everybody in VJ knows it is a failed cause from the moment you engage in a discussion with him.

Demos are corrupt according to him

Minorities (Hispanics and Blacks specially) have a tendency to break the law

Illegal immigrants should be killed on the spot

those are his ideologies and he will defend them with everything he's got, I advice to disengage ASAP because he has answers for everything...

LOL! Well he can be a delusional racist if he wants, it is a free country. :hehe: Truthfully I don't see poverty and curruption or even crime as a Democrat or Republican exclusive issue, even a race issue. Poverty is widespread across this country as is the currupt. Power breeds curruption in all parties and poverty breeds crime, depression, divorce and high teen pregnancy rates.

Well yes and no.The UK and Australia have some of the most generous welfare programs out there. Yet crime is still quite prevalent. I believe, a lot of these issues are now attributed to attitude and culture. People were dirt poor and flat broke during the depression yet managed to be good honest people. Whereas, compared to back then, in 2009 people have access to 5,000 times the resources yet still cry poor. Furthermore, have utterly destroyed various neighborhoods and cities in America. My folks knew were I was night and day. Certain friends parents didn't care. Thus, them serving life sentences for crime. They actually had triple the wealth of my family. Whereas, my folks were disciplinarians and proactively refused to give me the latest #######. For example, I had to work and use my own money to buy my first car. No golden spoon up my #######.

There isn't really a no about it. Statitics on the socio-economic status of the American prison poulation show that most come from poverty. Now just because one is poor doesn't make one a criminal but most criminals were poor.

I find it interesting (but not surprising, given what I know about reservations in America) that 5 of the 10 cities are either on or very near Indian Reservations or they are primarily Native American communities. It is no secret that reservations are among the poorest areas in our country. I won't get started on my ethical views of this.... Another 3 of those 10 towns are border towns in Texas. The Oklahoma town is 40% Native American. I really don't think it's a coincidence.

Wounded Knee and Allen, SD: both on or very near to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation

Parmelee, SD: on the Rosebud Indian Reservation

Cuevitas, Los Angeles Subdivision, and Brundage, Texas are all three very very near to the border of Texas and Mexico.

Elmo, MT is 70% Native American

Tagg Flats, OK, is 40% Native American

McNary, AZ is 83 Native American

Also the stats will show that most criminals are from broken homes and most had lax disclipine. Many poor do not commit crime because they are poor.

Exactly. Not as if they are stealing or doing drive-bys because they are hungry.

I live in the county with the highest household income in the United States. Down the road in Maryland, Prince Georges county is crime ridden and has some of the worst crime in the DC area. Students in PG county actually receive more funding per student than those living in Loudon & Fairfax county VA. No one can force anyone to hit the books rather than gang bang. That is a personal choice. I would have been kicked out of home if I roamed the streets at all hours of the morning. That was my parents choice. Furthermore, it was my choice to study.

While moving up from zero is much harder in America than Australia, it certainly is not at the Ethiopia level. The resources and opportunity is there for everyone. People need to make the choice and works towards it. They can either learn a trade, start a business or go to school. All quite prosperous career choices.

Socioeconomic status does not justify violent crime nor does it justify vandalism or lack of respect for one's community. If people were stealing to eat I would totally understand.
