hello

can someone please tell me what to expect on my interview day. its scheduled on the 14th of september. i

am from nigeria and my fiance is white from alabama. we met online about four years ago and he visited last year, the stories i have heard about the embassy here is terrible. they always believe that nigerians are into fraud and can not have a good relationship. they might be so biased as to deny me, i am a little scared. is there anyone like me out there, an nigerian that married a white and gone thru the interview, a little help is needed.

Hi Chinelo,

My situation is lil different from yours, am american married to a Ghanaian and hopefully other VJ members can share their experiences with you about the nigerian embassy. I would suggest looking under the guides section of this website and under the section titled, other important things to know- click on example interview questions. Also look under the African forum to read up on others experiences with nigerian embassy and u can also under search type in nigerian interview and see what comes up..Hope this helps also, you can look under embassy/USCIS reviews to see if ratings on nigeria...

Good Luck and just be sure when you go for ur interview that you have letters, cards, pictures, and all the sufficient document required. I had heard that is quite a bit of wait when u get the nigerian embassy so get there early and be prepared for a long wait!!

God Bless! One Love (L)

Hi Chinelo

Nice to see another one going thru Lagos. See my timeline and read our story and other threads we've written to get a better idea of what your facing.

Basically, Lagos is a tough embassy no doubt but they do issue K1 if you have all your ducks in a row and if the guy who interview you has had his morning coffee  Either way prepare for the worst, and expect the best.

feel free to PM or IM me and my hubby will be glad to assist or answer any questions you have.

all the best.

To everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven.

There have been several posts here a while back that detailed peoples experiences / questions at the intterview with the Lagos consulate. I suggest you do a search on here. Other than that....from what I know, they are happy to give requests for more information and proof of relationship. Bring all the proofs you can think of. For us they even requested phone records, coppies of my (the usc) passport, and letters from people who know us. That was in edition to the hundreds of emails, yahoo chat, pictures, video, and plain tickets that we provided to them.

Best wishes.

Yes, in general, Lagos is very tough. There is a lot of fraud that goes on through thier embassy. So, it can be very tough on those who are legit. I don't say that to scare you, but to prepare you. Basically, keep and organize anything you can think of that shows proof of your relationship and take it with you. Be plesant and honest at the interview. If you can't remember something, say so. But, be confident in what you do know. Be there early 6 or before. Eat and drink because you probably won't be able to get much during the day. Talk you your fience and support each other around that day (the waiting and wondering is hard on both of you). If it is what you believe in, pray and be confident that your higher power has the right plan for you. Celebrate each other and soon you will be back in each other's arms. Feel free to PM me if there is anything more you want to know or if there is a way I can help you. Good luck.
