I found the medical to be the easiest money the doctor gets to earn! Basically, they will draw blood to check for communicable diseases, send him for x-rays to check for tuberculosis, have a very quick and straight forward physical exam, the doctor will ask some health related questions, and that is about it. There will be a fair bit of waiting between each stage of the examination. Have your fiance bring copies of all of his vaccination records from school and from his doctor. he should also get back a photocopy of a worksheet showing what vaccinations he has had - he will need that for the AOS application after you are married.

They are mainly looking for communicable diseases. They will take note of any other types of illnesses but generally they don't seem to be a problem, although if something is 'active' they may request to see treatment reports. Drug use, alcohol abuse and some psychiatric disorders do seem to be grounds for denial but I don't know about something like cancer. The consulate may wish to see proof of medical insurance for certain situations like that. Thyroid problems should not be an issue.

Good luck.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
