To all of you calling NVC. I received a clarification on this entire additional processing subject today from NVC:

1. Additional processing IS NOT THE SAME as AP (Administrative Processing)

2. additional processing is done on ALL CASES that go through NVC and usually takes "few days"

3. The notice many of you have reported receiving here in the mail from NVC is only sent out when the case changes status - not when it received - that is if it goes to AP (from additional processing) or gets forwarded to the consulate, even though it always says "will be forwarded within a week" (they just use the same template all the time)

4. The primary means of communication for notices from NVC to you IS EMAIL (if you put one in the petition) - you have to opt out from it if you want to receive regular mail notices (that's what they need for scheduling the medical exam - the scan of official notice is enough, so can save you some time).

OK, except they do not notify you of routine procedures and the petition is forwarded within a week to the consulate. You will receive a letter telling you when the case has been forwarded (from NVC) and it will have a KEV number assigned to it. If administrative porocessing and additional processing are indeed different, then none of us are aware od administrative processing. The terms get used here interchangeably by VJ members when their case gets stuck at NVC. Do not assume anything you were told is correct.

Your case will arrive in Kiev and be entered in the system and available for an interview 2-3 weeks after you recieve the "forwarding letter" from NVC with the KEV# It is possible they will tell you the KEV number even if your case is "stuck in AP" and with that number you could get the medical exam scheduled.

Remember...if your fiancee has to travel any distance to Kiev and plans to do the medical one day and the interview the next (entirely possible and feasible) the medical clinic is currently closed on Wednesdays and the consulate is currently not doing interviews on Fridays (unless it changed in the last few days...I doubt it)
