If he is already your husband, then the K-1 is not an option for you guys. It is for couples who are engaged to be married, not already married.

You can go with the CR1 or the K3. Check out the guides and timelines for both and see which one fits your needs better.

Good Luck

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Fastest would be K-1 espcially since you can file now (I am assuming you aren't married yet considering you are asking about the K-1). However, it is about twice as expensive as the Cr-1 and FAR superior. Don't even bother with the K-3 as it is an obsolete visa. Cr-1 allows for immediate work and travel upon entrance into the US but you can only file after you are married.

Read the guides, it is an excellent place to start.

Good luck.

Yes, we're not married, hence husband-to-be.

Which do you think is more efficient, the K-1 or the CR-1?

CR-1 is probably the most 'efficient' since it takes a bit longer on one end but you're not required to Adjust Status once in the US (PR/Green Card right away) and is (in the end) less expensive.

What does efficient mean to you?

Quicker? 226 days until interview for K-1 and 339 for Cr-1 (according to VJ stats - each individual case is different)

Cheaper? CR-1

Allows you to work and travel ASAP? CR-1

I'm mostly bothered about how much time I have to spend away from Matt. We wouldn't mind paying a little more. Or having to wait for my adjusment of status. I want to keep my time out of the US to a minimum.

Thanks you your help.

Then the K-1 would be the way to go (since you're not married yet, it'd be the only way to go). It really comes down to what you want to do once you're in the US.

Oh don't get me wrong. I do want to work and live a normal life there. But really all we're thinking about at the moment is how soon we can be together.

I really appreciate your help.
