OK, so the new footie season kicks off in a couple of weeks, so it's time to start off with a register of interest, and quick re-cap of the rules.

Last season, we predicted the results for the following teams:

Southampton

Aston Villa

Portsmouth

Newcastle

Arsenal

Everton

Man City

Chelsea

Sheff Utd

Rangers

Berwick

Raith

This list consisted of the teams supported by each of the 6 participants, plus a few randoms chucked in for good measure. I think 12 teams is about right, so I was thinking if we get a few new players this year, we can use their teams and jettison the obscure Scottish lower league outfits!

A brief summary of the rules:

Each week, I will list the relevant fixtures on this thread. Each player will then predict a scoreline for each game, scoring points when said predictions are accurate.

The scoring system is as follows:

Exact result - 5pts (i.e. you predict a game will finish 1-0 to a particular team, and that team runs out 1-0 winners).

Correct result, wrong score but correct goal difference - 3pts (i.e. you predict a game will finish 1-0 to a particular team, and that team in fact wins 2-1, 3-2, 4-3, etc)

Any other correct result - 2pts

This year, each player will receive 2 "jokers" at the start of the campaign, which they may play at any point in the season. For those who are familiar with the classic, "It's a Knockout" TV game show, no explanation is necessary here. For the uninitiated, basically if you play a joker, your points tally will be doubled for that week.

I'll tentatively join in.. Im terrible at predicting scores but game for a giggle... Also, I predict Man U will annoy the heck out of me as they do every season :wacko::lol:

I support Arsenal and Paul supports Chelsea, so it's err fun when they play each other :yes::no:
