11/1999 - We met in Ecuador

02/05/00 - Relationship started

09/08/06 - Engaged & Pregnant!

03/13/08 - I filed for Citizenship

07/22/08 - Became US Citizen

08/02/08 - I-129F sent

08/13/08 - Case received by VSC

08/16/08 - NOA1

08/18/08 - Touched

12/18/08 - Touched again exactly 4 mos. after 1st touch!

12/18/08 - Noa2 @ 3PM-Gracias Dios Mio!

12/24/08 - NVC sent pckg. 3 to Embassy

01/02/09 - Pckg 3 rcvd. by Embassy

01/09/09 - Pckg 3 from Embassy received by beneficiary

02/09/09 - Medical exam

02/16/09 - Sent back checklist and docs required by embassy.

03/13/09 - We will fly to see Daddy Gary

03/16/09 - 1 PM Interview (Pray God he gets visa)

03/16/09 - 5PM INTERVIEW PASSED WOOHOO. Thank God.

03/25/09 - Visa on hand! he went to DHL office after phone call received.

04/18/09 - My Cuchi came, (NYC)a wonderful unbelievable moment!:)

04/20/09 - We applied for marriage licence. (Township Municipal Bldg Health Dept.)

04/23/09 - Licence on hand

04/29/09 - Applied for Social Security (He was in system!)

04/30/09 - Wedding day!!! Yeeebaa

05/07/09 - SS card in mail. "valid for work only with DHS authorization"

05/13/09 - Sent AOS paperwork.

06/16/09 - Biometrics Apptmt.

06/25/09 - EAD Card in mail!

06/26/09 - Letter saying case transfered to Cali.

08/08/09 - Residence Card in Mail! Yuuupiiiiiii.

THE END FOR 2 MORE YEARS.

Right, not all states use points, such as Mississippi (need to show you are allowed to be in the US for 180 days or more)

06/04/2009 - Checks cleared!

06/08/2009 - I-765/I-130 NOA Received!

06/10/2009 - I-485 NOA Received!

06/11/2009 - Biometrics appointment letter, scheduled 06/23/2009

06/17/2009 - I-765/I-130 Touched!

06/19/2009 - Attempted early biometrics... they said nope!

06/23/2009 - Biometrics completed.

07/07/2009 - EAD card production ordered.

07/13/2009 - EAD card production ordered, again.

07/14/2009 - I-765 - Approval notice sent.

My husband got his license here in CA shortly after arriving from Canada. He just had to take the test, pay the fee and got it. They said they are used to getting Canadian "snow birds" getting a license here when they come for the entire winter. He didn't need SSN or anything.

Ok....can someone please enlighten me as to what the required points are all about :unsure:

I'm in Arkansas and I went and got my drivers licence today with EAD. The officer in charge that takes you for the written part said I didn't have to take the actual driving part of the test as I already have a licence (NZ one), and to take the instruction permit to the DMV office to the Driver Control dept and get a 30 day learner waiver, then to go over to the main desk where they issue them from and get my licence.......

I mighta known there would be some kind of hiccup......I've had nothing but grief at the DMV office so far like when I went to get my state ID. I got it in the end but there was a bit of a palava in the process..........and now even after all the ID I gave them for the licence, they have to get clearance/verify my status from DHS and it will take 3-4 days, and to call back in and see them then.......not phone mind you, but call up there.

Luckily it's not too far away and not hugely busy, but it's not the point. :wacko:

So the upshot is EAD is enough, but they'll probably want to verify it with DHS before actually handing it to you.
