It has been indicated by a few petitioners that they were required to show that they no longer reside with the ex.... I am aware of the ways to address this in the US. Lets assume that they may require same from beneficiary, How can this be addressed if the ex is not willing to assist? In an attempt to be prepared for anything I would like to address this issue before it can possibly be asked, rather than after and be under the gun.

A copy of the house book for her ex is what is needed. That is what what we got.

Hi anh map

She ask him he was not give for next step what she to do

Thank you

I guess it depends on what is available to her. My wife went to talk with his family and one of them helped her get the book. If she has his address on the divorce paper she can write an affidavit stating that she knows that to be his address. Or maybe go to the police office where he lives and ask for a paper from them.

I will ask Linh when she gets home tonight if she has any recommendation.

The problem I see with mine is that her divorce decree shows her address for both of them.. a screw up at the government office... I think the house book will address it...

I hope this doesn't become an issue for us. Phuong's divorce decree doesn't have any addresses - only the name of the village where they lived. I asked her to get her ex-husband's address and phone # because M.E. thought it should be included in the petition. She didn't know it, but she knew he still lived in the village. She even knew exactly which house, but she didn't know the address. She finally got her uncle to get the address for her, and got her daughter to get his phone number. She stressed a LOT over getting that information. If I told her she needed a copy of his ho khau I think she'd probably have a heart attack. :(

I bet she will be even more stressed if the interview doesn't end with pink. I'd push for having the house book.

You really think there's a good chance they'll ask for it? She's been divorced for 8 years.

Actually, she might not need to actually talk to her ex, since he lives at his mom's house. Technically, it's HER ho khau!

Well it can get worse.. I asked her why divorce papers had her family address for her ex.. it has to do with school and her son.. they had ex added to her mothers house book for son enrolling in school but he never actually slept in the house or ever lived there... he is still in the book. She will have her mother remove his name in the book ASAP.. I wonder if HCMC CO will have issue with this....

Does your fiancee live in the same house? So, both her name AND her ex-husband's name are in the same ho khau? Yes, I would think HCM would definitely have a problem with that. :(

Thankfully, I don't have that problem. My fiancee owns her own home in Hue, 15 miles from the village where her ex-husband lives. The only names in her ho khau are herself and two of her kids.

I (would hope) think that the 8 years time would be sufficient.

fiancee on paper lives with her mother but works in Hanoi during the week and has apartment in city also... The ex's name is in Moms Ho Khau ( saw it this AM) but never really lived there (it was just for getting son in school... I dont really understand it but ...ok)... it is coming out ASAP, but I have to wonder if the CO will make an issue out of this when we have interview end of this year or worst case scenario beginning of next...
