... so we are days away from beginning the process for the CR1. Were not gonna do the K3.. should I get a lawyer? Has anyone done this on their own? Of course lawyers want you to believe that they're submissions receive priority and are taken more seriously. I really want to get started, but dont want to make that mistake (either hiring one, or not)

Anyone want to share personal opinions, Id appreciate it!

I am one step away from doing our interview, there is no need for a lawyer. If you can read and comprehence written material, you can do this by your self.

Good Luck.

Be wary of anyone who tells you that you don't need a lawyer without knowing about your situation. We didn't use a lawyer either, but that doesn't mean there is no reason to use a lawyer. Without knowing more about your situation, I'd have to say, "it depends". If your case is sufficiently complicated and unique, a lawyer may be a good choice. If you have a "run-of-the-mill" case without any special circumstances, then you may be better off without one. Still, it all comes down to what makes you feel more comfortable. While there are VJers who will tell you about horror stories they have had with a lawyer during he process, there are also likely others whose case required a legal expert due to its complexity and are glad they made a choice to go with one. Good luck!

Thank you everyone!!! As far as "run of the mill" I think we are in that category. What would be considered a complex case? I think that is where I wonder. He has two minor children who will stay behind for now. I have two children here - but am above the poverty line- so no financial affidavit issues. He has no criminal history - Only issues might be that the both of us were not smart in keeping the initial email and chat convos we had in the beginning. So, to prove we are bonifide, we will have to find other things to support that. I think we are run of the mill, do you guys?

You should be fine. Lawyers only fill out the paperwork for you. It'll be interesting to know what they do for the so called complex cases.
