visa refused under 221g

Timeline

Hello every body I am petitioner of family based visa IR2 FOR my son ,

petition was approved and on 3rd of june 2009 my son went for interview in usa embassy in islamabad pakistan , for interview,

visa was refused under221g section of INS code saying that my wife is helping to sponsor me financially she should also send proof of her Citizenship namly as a copy of passport , us birth certificate .

and before a visa can be issued , your case requires additional administration processing .

me and my wife both are american citizens and last year my older son got his immigrant visa , and he is in usa now ,

i have send them prof citizenship of my wife , birth certificate , passport photocopy ,

can some body help me with this what is 221g and Administrative processing and how long it will take , thanks

The request was for the evidence of your wife (which you sent) - since you didn't provide it in the first place, you received the 221g.

The AP is normal for most embassies, they are doing a background check on you son. (most typical for MENA men) - anywhere from 4 months to a year or more. Depends on a lot of factors.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

Bobby, is correct and almost all males end up in AP from Islamabad and the average time frame is 5 -6 months. I stated average it can be less or even longer. All you can do is contact DOS bi-weekly and ask for an update but do not be surprised if you never get any repsonse other than AP until they are ready to proceed. His name, finger prints are sent to the USA to be cleared in security checks and once they are completed then the embassy will proceed with the processing.

Thanks Bobby i understand , embassy in islamabad want to clear applicant once he is clear he will get his visa .

I-751 mailed 6/30/09 aapproved 11/7/09 The BOYS I-751 Mailed 12/29/09 3/23/10 Email approval for 17 CR 3/27/10
4/14/10 Email approval for 13 yr Old CR 4/23/10

Oldest son now 21 I-130 filed by LPR dad ( as per NVC CSPA is applying here )
I-130 approved 2/24
Priority date 12/6/2007
4/6/2010 letter from NVC arrives to son dated 3/4/2010
5/4/10 received AOS and DS3032 via email
9/22/10 Interview BOG Passed
10/3/10 POE JFK all went well
11/11/10 GC Received smile.png
