The obvious issue here is that the professor in the other story was famous, whereas the people in this story are not.

Trying to draw comparisons between the two to suggest bias in the way the story is being treated by the police and the media is more than a little tenuous. As usual that stuff only appeals to the people who want to believe that the whole thing is some dastardly "double standard".

Its somewhat of a catch 22... I do believe there is a double standard but at the same time the vast majority of people crying about it are white males who scoff at the idea that blacks are victims of racism.

That sounds about right.

Pretty much. In sensing a double standard there is also detection of a triple standard.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Ohio has been hit pretty hard by the recession - the unemployment rate there is (and has been for some time) higher than the national average (over 11% in June), and the predominant industries there are manufacturing and financial services.

Whenever you get a sharp economic decline, you nearly always get an increase in the crime rate (most predominantly in the areas that have the lowest access to jobs), and tensions get brought to the surface that weren't previously an issue.

This is got to be the lamest excuse posted in a long time.

-Teens attack because unemployment rate spike 2 points higher than average.-

My friend, your home country not only promotes this retarded thinking among politicians but large mases of people, this is why your country is and will be, an entertaining lesson for us as.

Briton = canary in the social coal mine.

You think what I wrote was an "excuse"?

Interesting.

Danno Pike wasn't making an excuse, but was offering an explanation. I'm guessing that if you look at the statistics crime does go up when the economy is in the crapper. That doesn't constitute a reason to commit crimes, but it explains the trend.
