Hilarious. I laughed out loud when I saw this thread because husband and I were discussing this very fact yesterday. He HATES it when I try to talk to him while he's in the bathroom.

Further, in reference to the post above mine:

Explained the Guy's Code of Bathroom Conduct last night. Important items on that list are:

No conversations in the bathroom, EVER! This includes limiting greetings to a mumbled grunt (while avoiding eye contact) at most!

No socializing in the bathroom, EVER!

If there's three urinals, or three stalls available (depending on what your business is), pick one on the side, so the next guy, should one come in, has a chance to pick the one on the other end. Waaaaay over there at the other end.

ONLY and ONLY in the event of running out of crapper paper (there's no "bathroom tissue" in the guy's section), that is, in an emergency, is it ever permissible to address somebody else while there. Wiping one's butt with one's undies and attempting to flush these down, even at the risk of causing major flooding, is however preferable.

Afterwards, operate flusher with foot, wash hands, wipe hands on pants, kick door open, exit, check fly once more for good measure, and pretend you didn't notice anyone else there.

I suffer from labour pain everytime I go for potty, so my husband does come to give me his support and crack some jokes, he also reminds me to take lexative. I on the other hand stay away when he is in the bathroom, I am those ewww--eek type of a person, he doesn't mind me staying away. It is a non-issue for us.

Oh and if anytime we need plumbing, he does the dirty work, even if the clogging was caused by me.

i used to too but then I stopped drinking milk and I don't anymore..

I wish it was that easy for me, for starters I don't drink milk. I try to get as much fiber as possible, but nothing seems to help. Oh well.

that is too bad.. I know how painful that can be...

Depends; I have no problem with it if #1 is happening, but any conversations in the midst of an intestinal purge had better include referrences to calling 911 ;) And the only creature entering the bathroom with me during said purges is Chloe, our cat, who insists on being petted when she has a captive audience :P

The debate is whether anything is too personal or private between two cohabitating people.

Is everything open for examination in the relationship, or are somethings better left private and unseen, such as being in the bathroom when your significant other is taking a number one or a number two?

Personally, I will give my wife 5 minutes alone. I just don't want to be there when things go plop-plop, tinkle-tinkle....

Did the German Pope make any kind of statement about this on his facebook page?

My fiance goes to the washroom with the door open when no one's home, so I usually am near by or wander in.

He sometimes takes a while, so I'll usually stand in there and talk to him.

Neither of us mind, haha.

I don't really mind if he walks in on me either and talks to me, though sometimes I do want my privacy.
