That's for chronic pneumonia. I am very concerned of her acute emotional stress. That in itself lowers resistance to tuberculi bacteria. She should have been given isoniazid and ethambutol 8 weeks straight after that! That's my opinion though (which lacks the diagnostic evidence that I should see). I am only basing this on the fact that 2 of her X-ray results showed consistent scarring.

Tell her... TO DO THIS IMMEDIATELY...

NO COLD drinks, air, NON WHATSOEVER!!!!

NO SMOKING, NO AIR-CONDITIONING that makes her chilled. If she has to go to a place air conditioned she must keep herself warm.

Keep away from people. Crowd causes stress. Stress causes respiratory risks.

SHE MUST SLEEP AT LEAST 10 hours at night.

SHE MUST EAT even if she does not want to.

SHE MUST TAKE B complex vitamins to activate/enhance her nervous system and thereby improving immune centers in her brain.

No carrying heavy weights of any kind.

When she gets to San Diego, bring her to UCI Med. Orange County, see James Williams. He's good.

Thank you doctor, I gave her your instructions last night!

I'm so sad, the result is "positive" for TB.

So I was right all along. DO WHAT I SAID ABOVE AND FOLLOW THE MEDICATIONS LIKE CLOCKWORK. She will have new lungs in no time.

Thank you Doctor for your excellent advice to the OP.

VERMONT! I Reject Your Reality...and Substitute My Own!

Just an update:

She's had two additional sputums since DOTs began, both culture results were NEGATIVE.

X-ray showed improvement also.

The doctors said the results so far are "very good".

55 more days and one more sputum culture and X-ray to go.

Reading this thread, I could feel your pain, glad the wait is nearing. God Speed.

By action is one an outcast,

By action is one a noble.

You are the only forum member that I have seen posted that stated they waited the entire 8 weeks, not to mention one day after their culture, which received a positive. Did they give you any information as to why they did not call your fiancée earlier, like when they realized the culture had turned positive? My fiancée is undergoing the same treatment. As of tomorrow, it will have been 8 weeks for us. It has been reported several times on this forum that if you are not called, then chances are you are in good shape. However, it would sadly seem you were the exception to the rule. When it pertains to the “sputum test” I have not heard of anyone having a solid strategy to tell whether or not you will get good news if you have to wait the entire 8 weeks. May God Bless and you and your fiancée.

My wife and I have been married over four years and we have a daughter together, My wife is from Philippines. She had to do a three day sputum test also. Before she went for her physical we did a TB skin test with our private doctor and it was Negative but the doctors in Manila don't care. Well her Smear test was negative but today she got a phone call from St Lukes telling her to report on Tuesday, we a fearing the worst. The thing is if she is positive then wouldn't I also be ? I have cleared with my doctors back here in Cleveland Ohio at the VA, that's was blood test and chest X-ray, and TB skin test.

Thank You
