Well from reading post from people who went through the VAWA interview, I think you need to take your EAD, I-94, passport, I would also take birth certificate, and just in case, take the originals of the stuff that you sent in for the I-360. As far as the interview goes, all the post that I've read, they don't ask you any questions in regards to the abuse since it's already been adjudicated at Vermont, they just ask the yes and no questions on I-485 and that's pretty much it. I wish you the best of luck

N-400 Naturalization

04th Dec, 2012 - N-400 filed

12th Dec, 2012 - NOA Received

14th Dec, 2012 - Biometrics Letter Received

26th Dec, 2012 - Biometrics Completed

11th Jan, 2013 - Placed inline for Interview

07th Mar, 2013 - Scheduled for interview

16th Apr, 2013 - Interview Date

16th Apr, 2013- US Citizen (End of USCIS Journey)

Hey,

My Vawa was approved in May 2008 and I received my GC in June 2008 without the interview. My lawyer informed me that I can appy Citizenship on May 2011 even though I did not stay married 3 or more years. I was married for 2 years. Does anyone know what is the time frame to apply for citizenship? is it 3 years or 5 years after receiving the GC?

Thanks a lot!

Didem

If you aren't currently married you can apply for USC 5 years from date you received your GC. Actually 90 days less than 5 years.

Get a new lawyer.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

Hey Didem,

Wow..Your processing went fast for both VAWA and Green Card timeline. Well as a VAWA approval petitioner and with Green Card approval you don't have to be with your abuser (spouse) no more, either still married or divorced. You can apply for your Citizenship 90 days before your Green Card 3 years anniversary just as if you are still living together with your abuser (spouse). VAWA qualifies you to apply 3 years for your Citizenship instead of 5 years for other applicant. So please don't listen to some folks here with no knowledge about this vital information, don't be fooled. Yes you can apply for your Citizenship 90 days before your 3 years Green Card anniversary. So in other words you should apply for your Citizenship by February, 2011. VAWA Petitioner with approval and Green Card approval are Excepted from this 5 years without their spousal. You are permitted to apply as if you are still living together ! Good luck !

My VAWA did not take more than 1 year to get it approved but I was asked to provide more documentation such as pictures, bills addition to what I have sent in. I was lucky enough that I kept all that but yeah my whole VAWA approval process was about a year.

Thanks Victoryismine,

I wish you good luck as well...This whole process is very stressfull but it is worth to go through...Now, I am waiting February 2011 to apply for my citizenship. By the way, do you know if I remarry; will I still be able to apply citizenship on Feb 2011 or do I need to wait 5 years. Currently I am engaged and want to get married but I am so close to get the citizenship I just dont want to waste it. Do you know anything about this process?

Actually someone answered about this the other day on another thread and attached a link to the official immigration notes on it. As a VAWA case it is still only 3 years from first obtaining a GC.
