Question: Have any of your cases been uploaded at NVC yet? Anyone made contact with them to check status?

My case number was generated on Sept. 15. My NOA2 date was Sept. 3. It seems to be taking about 7-14 days for recent NOA2's to have case numbers generated. Evening is the best time to call. It's almost impossible, in my experience, to get through before 7pm Eastern time.

Don't worry, they'll generate a case number soon. I called every business day until mine was generated, starting about 1 week after the NOA2.

Hey,

It looks like both our I-130s were approved the same day. I called them as well and the package still hasn't been entered. Something tells me that we may have an NVC case # either tomorrow or the day after. Until then, it's a waiting game.

Good luck!!

Hello all July filers. I just received an I-797E NOA and Request for Evidence in today's mail. The website does not reflect this, and just shows still in Initial Processing. The RFE attaches a new I-130, and tells me to fill it out completely. The only thing wrong with the original was that it was a photo copy. There is a bar code at the bottom. I guess when I made the copies of the I-130 and 200 pages of supporting documents, and sent them to USCIS overnight, I sent just copies of the I-130...not the signed original. So, my question is this. May I just send the original I have, or do I need to completely fill out the new I-130 as it is barcoded. I know to return with the blue notice of RFE. The Notice just asks for an original signature. I of course have this on the original one which I photocopied and sent with the I-130 Petition and Packet. Any answer would be greatly appreciated. Also, does anyone have any experience as to how much additional delay this may cause once I send the original signed document back. Thanks. Eric.

please send the barcoded i-130 because that will be scanned into the system instead of just sitting there waiting for data entry, whenever you recieve a RFE its from your adjudicator and once they recieve your info they will scan it and resume processing that could be just a 1-2 week delay on your case depending on how long you take to return it, i would return it ASAP!

Hi Eric,

I would think that since you have to mail the original in anyways it wouldn't hurt to send in the original I-130 along with the one they sent you. At least they sent you one, they could have just sent an RFE letter without the document they want you to fill out. I would send it all back to them to be double sure. Good luck with it all...

I have a quick question. Does anyone know if touches will show up in new system.

Ours still just says it was recieved 8/6. It is as if it got lost as I keep seeing people who filed after us getting approved. I would be psyched to see a touch or anything. I'm completely stressed waiting. I miss my husband and I hate that there doesnt seem to be order or reson in this system. It's as if they just keep dumping more mail on top so whoever is on the bottom can sit there for months in limbo. I see some May filers still stuck while August already through. It's frustrating.

I just feel so helpless.

Some VJers have reported touches this week, so yes, they'll show up in the new system.

Only a handful after your NOA2 date have been approved. Don't worry! It's still very soon. We all feel the stress and miss our spouses like crazy, and that's the great thing about VJ. Well, not that experience, but that we can experience it together. If I'm not making sense, it's because I've had a long day at work!!!!

You're right-there is no order or reason in this system. May and June filers are still waiting while some August filers have their NOA2s. There could be many reasons for this though, depending on a lot of factors. It'll never make sense to us though.

I have my moments too... I just try to stay busy, exercise like a fanatic, and get all my home projects together for my hubby's arrival. Try not to feel so helpless-and when you do, get on VJ and in this thread and we'll help you through it! :)

Our timeline:

2/88: We met in Sydney, Australia at a youth hostel! He's Finnish, I'm American-both were in our early 20s at the time and fresh out of college (so couldn't afford to visit each other's countries after that!). We had a three-day romance, then went our separate ways. He actually was going to Sydney a week later, but decided at the last minute to cut his trip short in another country and go early. Wow.

1988-1998: Wrote "snail mail" letters/sent Xmas cards, but lived our separate lives. I married someone else, divorced in 2006...he lived with someone for years and then that ended.

10/08: Because of a series of random life events, I Googled my Finn Man and found him (but no link to his email, and the website his name was on was in Estonian so I couldn't even read it!). It took me two weeks to find a link to someone else, who forwarded my email to him (we were both single at the time thankfully!!!!). The email went to his spam folder but he happened to check it that day and responded back to me immediately! This was after 10 years of no contact and almost 21 years of not seeing each other after we first met.

11/08-5/09: We traveled back and forth to visit each other. Love at first (second?) sight!

7/09: Married in Helsinki, Finland...after meeting randomly 21 1/2 years ago and finding each other again!!!!!

8/13/09: I-130 sent!!!!!!!!!

Rest is on my timeline!
