No they cant take your GC away... However, it will take you 5 years to apply for your citizenship as opposed to the 3 years if you were still married. Good luck!

yes i know but like i said before he try to apply for credit cards in my name so i dont have any option other then divorce him. :(

If we all put ourselves into the OP's shoes.... wouldn't we do the same thing.

Assume she entered into the marriage with good intent, intending to have a long life with her spouse, until she finds out that he has cheated on her and tried to get credit cards in her name.

You have now settled into life in the U.S. and don't really want to leave, but you can no longer stay married to your spouse.

Wouldn't you too wait until after you got your GC so that you have the choice about whether to stay in the U.S. or leave, especially when it wasn't your fault that the marriage didn't work out????

I think SO.

Sorry but your timing is TO perfect!

TOO bad your spelling isn't as perfect.

If you can't differentiate between "to" and "too", perhaps you should avoid crititcizing others. Original "TO"was perfect, yours "TOO" is not so...

Actually, it is time for you to brush up on proper use of To and TOO. My correction was exactly right. Back to third grade for you!

Oh, and you spelled criticizing wrong, too! TOO hilarious!

Yes if he is doing it to ruin your credit, then best to divorce him and not put up with the years of your credit being stained and the time it takes to pay them all back, which I pretty much can say it will take longer than 2 years to get all of that straightened out.

Good Luck and I wish you the best with your decision.

Make sure you try and dump off the debt on him that he incurred and give yourself a clean credit card.

I don't understand why this thread is still going? The question has been answeared a long time ago.

Pricess, whatever your reasons are, you can divorce and still keep your Green Card and apply for citizenship 5 years after the date of issuance of your Green Card(conditional or permanent).
