big refund = over-withheld your own money = interest free loan for the government.

Why do people act like they won the lottery when they get a big refund?

Why would you think I act like I won the lottery? I set up tax planning for something that didn't pan out so didn't owe want I thought, now I can use the money. Dude, you are way too serious and critical of others.

 alright jim...

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

You didn't file quarterly? It is good to set that up if you aren't saving. Besides, the IRS may make you start the quarterly reporting anyway. Good luck

Yeah, we fared well in '03 (when we married - 'cause I didn't know at the beginning of the year that that would happen and had taxes withheld as single) and '04 (when Nani moved since she didn't work for most of that year). For last year, we come out just about flat.

Having our taxes withheld as we should, of course, we took more money home throughout the year and put a nice stash to the side in '05. And we are earning interest on that. On which, of course, we pay taxes, too. :(

2006 is gonna look good again. The baby due this year should ease the tax burden a bit, I recon. :D

We had really been hoping to file by now so we could get things out of the way before we move (only 5 days left!!) but one of G's W-2s has gone AWOL ... twice (as in we requested a replacement and that also went missing). He only worked one day for that agency before getting a FT job elsewhere!

In any case, though, I think we're looking at a couple hundred bucks, only. Still, since we're in the middle of moving, every little bit helps! (And of course, we'll get a much better refund next year when we deduct moving expenses.)

Our Accountant is in the process of setting that up for this year, but last year we became a Corporation (we were a DBA before) and they said it would be better for us to pay the penalties for last year and get it all set up for this year! Soooo we are waiting with baited breath to see how much we owe

Cool, this is the best thing to do, it will save you a lot of grief with the IRS at the end of the year. Good luck
