As I have told you before, someone could say the earth is flat. Your opinion is irrelevant until you can prove them wrong.

Presumably this is why the justice system operates on the basis of "Guilty until proven innocent".

I definitely believe that the officer arrested him out of spite. The logical thing to do at that point where the ID was shown would have been to disperse. I also think the "lets go outside" comment was because the cop knew that in his own home, Gates wasn't doing anything wrong. Only when outside does the yelling and shouting become an issue.

Also, unless the town has a "stop and identify" clause (because the state doesn't) Gates does not have to ID himself. I think if I had been in that situation I would have been alittle angry as well and I'm white.

In that situation, once the ID was shown and Crowley walked through that front door, I would have shut it and gone to bed.

Its not a crime to agree with people or have them agree with you on specific issues.

Though I suppose this is where your accusations about being horribly chastised come in - and that if it weren't for some sort of organized group that insists on tearing you down and ridiculing you, that more people would agree with your opinion.

Also, I would say that Crowley is a failure at race relations if he can't understand the simple concept of leaving once the ID was shown when you have an irate individual.

Every person he has trained probably needs retraining.

If the chit continues to hit the proverbial fan... it might. I don't know how the town's budget is though.

Building on that example of yours. You would claim that someone is guilty and that their defense is wrong but fail to ever show how they are guilty or why/ how they are wrong. Then if (coincidentally of course) the same handful of posters come in and agree with you, you automatically assume you must be correct and the accused is wrong wrong wrong. And stupid of course. Substitute it with drunk in Marcs case...

You would be the last person in this forum I would call fair, objective and balanced. You bring your preconceived perception of every poster into the equation when posting. If I recall, there is actually a psychological syndrome for this bias; the halo effect. Where even though you know little about someone, you will fill in the gaps based on your preconceived bias of the person.
