i don't understand why some cultures alienate and/or blame the victims of sexual assaults.

In the case of south asian cultures that do that, there's an assumption that a woman who gets raped 'asked for it' in some way, through suggestive gestures or clothing or something.

Based on an old Confucius saying that a woman can run faster with skirt up than a man with pants down.

the worst part is that my tax dollars were used to import these animal into my country and to support their lifestyle here. now more of my tax dollars will be used to incarcerate them, and to "re-educate" them...

Am I supposed to take this post seriously, or not?

These were refugees from Liberia, all of them. The terrible situation there is I am quite sure responsible for their not having learned appropriate behaviours and responses. The lesson to be learned is not that these people are savages who can't behave in civilized society who deserve neither your sympathy nor you financial support. The lesson is when people are transported out of a horrific situation to live in a totally alien society they should be given mental health support to ensure that there are no underlying, long term issues that are a result of their previous circumstances that could lead to these types of terrible incidents that will now blight 5 lives, more if one counts the families of these children.

you are so naive.

obviously you have never experienced significant trauma. you have no understanding of how debilitating it actually is, and think that a few afternoons with a shrink can fix it all. well lemme tell ya, it can't.

those boys are animals, and it's a sad day that they were let into this country. they are uneducable. and cannot be acculturated. they should be castrated, and returned to liberia. instead, they will be placed in a reform school where they will be raped by older boys, and then will be placed in foster homes where they will rape other children. they will eventually acheive legal adulthood, and will wind up in jail for more crimes.

you don't believe me? follow their stories for the next 10 ears and write back to me about it. in the meantime, STFU.

Shooter MC has a valid point & your attack on her is uncalled for. At the same time in-between your rhetoric & baiting you actually do have a point... these kids will likely commit violent crimes again, even after being treated by a mental health professional. Back in college I worked at a group home for at-risk teenagers and each had a pretty crappy childhood... some were victims and some quite frankly were on their way to becoming a habitual offender.

Do these kids deserve a 2nd chance? If I were the judge I would throw the book at them... yes they have been dealt a pretty crappy hand in life but what they did is unforgivable. As for the little girl she should get the best psychological treatment available & her sorry #### parents should lose custody (if they haven't already) for their screwed up attitude about the ordeal.

What part of my post led you to believe that what I proposed was a 'few afternoons with a shrink'?

These boys are not animals, they will not be castrated and they will not be returned to Liberia and none of those statements are the product of an educated Western mind.

It is possible that the future that you have outlined for these boys is accurate - that is indeed a sad indictment of the state of the penal system in the USA.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

and they haven't been able to get you to go near this kind of character since.

you know why the "system" that deals with people like this fails? two reasons:

1.) people like this are unacculturable without skilled and intensive intervention over an extended period

2.) people qualified to do the intervention are tired of getting $hit on their feet for chump change, so the people plugged into these roles are "social workers". these are usually young bachelor of social work type incompetents who are foolish enough to think they can "make a difference" in the client's lives. most of them have such heavy projection they can only see themselves and their own childhood trauma. occasionally they are or re-treaded failed policemen recovering from alcohol addiction and divorce/abandonment. you will also see the child protective services caseworkers, and etc. who are just collecting a check as they move up the pecking order in the county payroll waiting to get to some other position.

NONE of these people are qualified psychologists or psychiatrists. people with those job titles are outside of the county salary range, and very few of them are really qualified to deal with child sexual abusers and child sexual abuse victims. what child sexual abusers and sexual abuse victims really need is intensive "re-parenting" for extended periods on an individual basis. this ain't gonna happen with a bunch of liberian delinquents.

this estimation of reality is based upon 4 years of experience as a spouse of a borderline specialist at a top flight MH center who knew lots of people in the field and invited me into the social circle, and my own volunteer work assisting victims of familial sexual abuse (3 years in the late 90's).

So unnecessary.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

terrible and just wrong...

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I am not totally disagreeing with you, but your view is very pessimistic. Some of the formerly "screwed up" teens I supervised are now doing quite well. Granted the population I dealt with were generally not violent offenders (they tend to be placed in facilities with more security... some of the kids I interacted with had assault records but that was the worst offense). I personally made a distinction between kids that were victims of a bad environment and a few kids that became part of the problem... the kids in this story are in the latter group as far as I am concerned.

STFU is used frequently on this board, and has been used by the poster i directed it at in another thread as recently as yesterday.

so you don't like the message but can't think of any way to respond, therefore you attack the messenger.
