I know it might not be proper for me to ask on this thread but i'll ask anyway.

I am going back to my home country next week for a month vacation. I know i wont have a problem coming back coz i already have my green card. right?! While on vacation, i will also look for possible schools where my wife and i can take further studies next year.

My questions now are...

1. if i go next year and study will i have a problem when i renew and remove conditions on my greencard in 2011?

2. Can i apply for removal of conditions in the US embassy in my home country?

3. how long is the re-entry permit valid? my schooling could take up to 2 years maybe even 3.

4. will i still need a re-entry permit if i go back to the US every 6 months?

5. i know i will be outside the US for a total of more than a year or two, will i have a problem filing for citizenship even if i stay in the US for 3 consecutive years after i study?

i know its a little too early for me to ask these questions, i just want to get as many input as i could. it would help me decide if i would pursue my studies next year or not.

getting my citizenship in 3 years is really not my top priority, i dont mind waiting another 3 years after i get my 2nd bachelors degree.... but then again, i know it could be very complicated if i prioritize my studies first. im confused.

I think you put everything at risk with you thought of being out of country for longer then 6 months. USCIS will look upon it as your not being serious WAITING TO BE IN THE UNITED STATES AS PERMANENT RESIDENT OR CITIZEN.

I understand your wanting to do your studies, but you have to understand why there are rules in place.

My feelings are stay here until you get your permanent residents astablished then apply for a AP to cover the long time you need to study overseas. That way if USCIS has any problems with the one or two years of studies they will SAY SO at the time of APPLYING for the EXTENDED AP request.

I would never put my wifes future at risk so we take it very slowly. We are building a house in the PHILIPPINES but know we can only use it up to 5 months a year for the next 5 years and no long then 11 months after she gets her permanent residents.

GOOD LUCK

You need to use your Green Card to entry U.S every 6 month.

They are right visacheck. I did some research on it too since I badly need to be back in Pakistan for a year or so, due to pending business. Aparently, it can and will risk the LPR status. Also, even if you are away from the US for more than 6 months and you are allowed to do so, under no circumstance can you abandon your permanent resident Address/Status in the US. You will have to still maintain your residency here and prove it.
