Actual K-1 Visa... is it placed in passport?

Hey All,

For any of you who have already recieved your K1 visa, do they place it directly in your passport? My fiance in the UK needs to get a new passport as his will expire soon. He needs it to visit me in August/Sept., but doesnt want to send it away after that incase it takes forever.

yes... it is a self adhesive document that takes up an entire page of the passport

ok cool. That's usually the case but just wanted to check. Thanks for the info Now I just wonder when he should renew his current passport... sooner or later. Dont want him to be without it if by some miracle we have an interview in the coming months....

From the US Embassy-London website about K1 preparation for the interview:

Passports

A Passport must be valid for travel to the United States and must have at least eight months validity beyond the issuance date of the visa. Children may be included on a parent's passport, but if over the age of 16, they must have their photographs attached to the passport

He needs to keep that in mind before he goes to interview to make sure his passport will be acceptable to them.

That and the fact that when the passport office return your old passport they cut a big corner out of the thing to show it has been superceeded. Rendering your lovelly new visa page useless.
