Hello Everyone,

Im so happy that i found this forum, My name is George and i am a missionary, right now i am in México, but i am colombia, im in Méxixo with a tourist visa, not with a Residence visa, and i want to go a Michigan to take a course of Mechanic Aviation in a school call SMAT, they did accept me to regist and everything, my problem is that when i try to get my appointment here to ask for the Student visa they told me here in México that they cannot do anything for me, that i need to go to Colombia and ask for the visa from there.

Something i am not doing, so i have a tourist visa, my question are:

if i go to USA as a tourist and then i try to get the student visa there

¿Is it possible?¿Is it really hard? ¿can i have some friend of mine sponsoring me? ¿how long would it take the whole thing? ¿How much would it cost? ¿have somebody here did that?

I really say thank you to all the ones to try to help me out with this.. i am really short time, so i need to hurry up.

God Bless You All.

George.

No you apply for the visa at the consulate of your home country, Columbia. So you go back to Columbia and apply. You may be able to send in whatever documents to them while you are in Mexico and then travel back for any interview or whatever. You can not apply for a visa to enter the US after you enter the US. There is a difference between a tourist visa and a student visa. Contact the US Embassy in Coumbia. Go to theri website for detailed information.

When I got my student visa, it could only be issued in your home country, but that was 5 years ago.

Yes it is expensive. The student must show they can cover the entire cost of studying themselves, they will not take a sponsor.

Take a look at this site for help with your student visa. Good luck.

if you enter the states with a tourist visa, with the intent to miss use it, it would be visa fraud. if you acquire a tourist visa you must have the intent to use it for it intended purpose and the same with every other visa.

Usually you can't be issued a visa while you are in a third country unless you have some sort of residency status in that country. If you were not a tourist in Mexico, you could apply to a US consulate/embassy in Mexico, but since you are only there as a tourist, you'll have to return to Columbia.

What is not clear is do you know you are on a family immigration site? This information you are seeking may be beyond the realm of a lot of members here. Maybe you should try and post this on a differnt sire to help with the answers you seek

Why is it that the only one who can stop the crying is the one who started it in the first place?

Even to enter the US as a tourist you'd have to apply from Columbia since its not a waiver country.

I Dont need to aply to a Tourist visa, i do have one.

then you can go to the US as a tourist; NOT to study. To do so would be visa fraud;' and to even suggest doing it is agains this site's Terms of Service.

If you want a student visa, you have to go back to Colombia and apply from there.
