Affidavit of support I-134 Q11 HELP

I have a question about the i 134 - question11: It asks if you do intend or if you do not intend to make specific contributions to the support of the persone named in item 3 (the fiancee9

my boyfriend checked the little box at " I do not intend".

I am not sure if he should have checked the other box which states " I do intend" to make the affidavit valid.

Do you know anything about which box is right?

I wasnt sure about this one myself but I talked to my fiance when he was filling it in - looking at the example forms it says not to check any box and to just type/write "N/A ( K1 visa process for permanent residence )" So this is what we have done:). So I am hoping that is ok:)

On question 11, the answer should be. You do intend Full maintenance and support as my cohabiting spouse, after marriage. This is what my lawyer told me to answer.

As this is an affidavit of support that is used in many non-immigrant K-visas cases, I dont see how that particular answer would necessarily be correct or at least as you say 'the answer should be'. Many use the examples answer and it is accepted. The I-864 with adjustment of status on the other hand once married does require that the 'spouse' show support. For one, the I-134 is not enforceable and is only one of many things that 'may' be used by a conof to determine if the applicant will or wont become a public charge in order to grant the visa. An I-134 when used for K-visas (fiance or spouse) can also be completed by another (family member etc).

The I-134 was and is used for many types of visas. That particular question was originally for those entering the US for a short duration on a non-immigrant visa as a visitor eg, where support etc was required to be shown.

Members have answered this question in various ways and it has been accepted.
