During my AOS interview yesterday, the IO asked for a document that I did not possess in original and he wasn't convinced by the copy and its certified translation. I am sure he did me a favor by telling me that if he sends me a RFE it will consume alot of time, and before the Supervisor gets to my file, I should have the document brought in and have it dropped at the building in an envelope with his name on it. Does this happen? What my concern is that what if the document doesn't reach the concerned Officer. Not to mention, if it gets lost, I may not be able to prove that I did bring it in. It will be days before i get my hands on the paper since its been shipped from my home country. And since the IO wants to see the original only, how do I get it back. Once gone in the file, I don't think they'll release the document, even if it reaches the concerned Official

Any insight?

What I just saw on the USCIS website is there is a form you can file for the return of an original document(s). Its form G-884. If you want a document filed for a case thats still pending, send the form to the office currently processing your case and if a decision has been taken, send the form to the last office that took action on your case. Hope this helps..
