INDUSTRY, Calif. (AP) — A 40-year-old woman has been found dead in a machine at a Southern California food processing plant that is a major supplier for McDonald's restaurants.

Los Angeles County sheriff's detectives say the body of an employee was found early Tuesday at Golden State Foods in the City of Industry, an east Los Angeles suburb. Investigators believe her death was accidental.

The Pasadena Star-News quoted Craig Harvey, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Coroner, as saying that Ana Maria Vital of La Puente "sustained crushing injuries by some boxing machinery after attempting to remove a box that had been lodged in the machinery."

The Irvine-based company has distribution centers across the nation. Its website says the company supplies McDonald's and developed the sauce for the restaurant's Big Mac in the 1960s.

Can't believe OSHA didn't catch that, must be a payoff. Been involved in the design of such machinery, it's incredible the amount of different scenarios we had to go through to think of every possible situation.

What is didn't read is with a name like "Ana Maria Vital of La Puente" is if she is an illegal, illegals around here get fired if injured, no health benefits, no lawsuits, no unemployment nor workers compensation. For a severely injured person, just pick up the pieces, put them in a bag and deport them. A segment of our society is really benefiting from this, hint, large corporations, that seem to have a strong influence over our state and federal government that make the laws.

It's a major crime in my opinion, and our leaders are equally guilty of this crime.
