Hi everyone,

I need an information.

I got married on July 10th I am a J1 Visa holder and I am filling out all the form that I need to adjust my visa status.

My question is: Can my mom come to America while I haven't sent any of the doc yet.

Can my husband write a invitation letter saying that she is his mother in law and is coming to visit us???

I really appreciate if you guys can help me out in here.. I really miss her.

Thanks in advance,

Your mom can come, all your husband can do from your side is to send out the invitation letter to your mom for the interview.

One thing to keep in mind, the main responsibility will be on your mom, nothing much you can do from your side beside the invite letter. She has to prove to the consulate that she will come back to Brasil.

IF she has a house, bank account, cars, anythng that will prove she's intending to go back after the visit, then the rest is up to the consulate and a little luck. If you look around you might find a sample letter i posted awhile back, and there's been a few post regarding this subject, the visajourney search function is your best friend.

All she can do is apply for the visitor visa. She needs to show strong ties to home ( home ownership, younger children, spouse, employment, etc.)

Your Mother needs to apply for a tourist visa. She must show ties to her home country. Maybe someone from your home country can reply to this thread. I don't know what the success rate is for people trying to get visas from there are. You're not having a GC yet is irrelevant. It would be a good idea however for your husband to write a letter to her, inviting her to stay and outlining how he will financially support her during the visit. She can use that at her interview for her tourist visa. Is he paying for her ticket? He should also put that in the letter if he is.

Best of luck!

Yes, he can put in the letter that she is his mother-in-law. It gives a 'reason' for wanting to visit. As mentioned above, whether or not the visa will be granted, however, will depend on how much proof of her ties to Brazil that your mother brings with her to the Consulate when she applies for the Visa. Good luck to her.
