assistance on co sponsor who is retired

hi guys,

i have been looking at past posts on the topic of the assistance of a co sponsor who is retired.

i know i can use one, that's fine, and i have my wonderful, yet annoyingly ####### mother in law helping me get together my father in laws details ahead of the NVC process so i have the photocopies of the IRS W2 and whatever the other form is ready....

i have all my hubbys ones for the past 3 years, and apparently my mother in law has 3 yrs of tax info for my father in law (who is the retired co sponsor)

my query is, what exactly are the forms called in the US for a retired person? i want to be SURE before she calls me tomorrow night, as she is asking me what exact forms i need, and apparently a retired person doesnt have a W2, its named something else???

can a US based person let me in on the secrets of the US tax returns?!?!

i just basically want to know the language to speak in when i tell her what she needs to photocopy as she is getting on in life and is REALLY hard to talk to about all this and i want to just say in simple terms its the "BLAH BLAH form" and she will then hopefully understand.

ahhh the joys of doing everything from AUSTRALIA! :P

Yes you do need proof. For my mother I sent in just a regular old photocopy of her birth certificate and her passport and that worked. I only included the passport as well since her married name is obviously not included on her birth certificate. Oh and the passport was expired!

Oh and if your husband is living with his father and the father is submitting an I-864A he'll need proof of their relationship and proof of shared residence as well. For those I included my birth certificate and photocopies of both of our driver's licenses.

Oh didn't even think of that! I guess I wanted to give them one piece of paper for each thing that they requested. Didn't want to give them too much credit and think they'd go looking for the information on their own... heh. I shouldn't poke fun at them though- they were very good to me :)
