Mom's I-485 is pending right now, biometrics scheduled on July 25th. When she submit her applications, she did not submit I-131 for advance parole, now she has some business to take care abroad, needs to leave for a few weeks. I checked the I-131 instruction for her and it still needs biometrics done, since her biometrics appointment is days away, should we file I-131 before or after bio? Also, what documents need to be sent with I-131? From what I read in USCIS website, she needs a copy of I-797C NOA to show she paid the fee for I-485 so she does not need to pay for I-131 again, and a copy of her current passport, that's it? The address to send is: USCIS, P.O Box 805887, Chicago, IL 60680-4120. Anyone has similiar experience?

I-131 takes 60-90 days to process and is valid for one year after issuance... include proof of I-485 filing and no fee is required

Also will add, if it's a true emergency - she can make an infopass and get one right away.

(I would do it after the biometrics)

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS
