Any immigrant without proper authorization to work is deportable. Why would a K1 be different?

I know it's not different, but b/c money is tight we were thinking of starting work before the authorization. I just don't know if they actually do deport people, of if it's something they say they will do and never do kind of a thing.

The law says you need a EAD to be able to work in the US... Why start your new life by breaking the law!!!!

Will you lie to USCIS if they ask you if you have done any unauthorized work in the US, I was asked that at my greencard interview and agin when I had my interview for my citizenship..

My understanding is that overstays and unauthorized work are forgiven on adjustment of status, with the rider that it is only unauthorised work that was prior to the filing of I 485. Unauthorized work AFTER the filing of I 485 provides grounds for denial of AOS.

Okay, I was going to mention that if you were looking at a specific career you can do relevant volunteer work which can help with networking. I had a friend who was laid off in February and after doing volunteer work it lead to a job.

Well I haven't filed I-485 yet.

Your probably right, however its not something I'd risk doing. For one thing you'll find that the idea of "forgiving" isn't definite in all situations and immigration tends to act in inconsistent ways.
