How do you know they didn't come across that way with him and he was just responding to their approach and defending himself?

Because because his whole life is race, dummy. It's his profession.

He is a well-known scholastic figure schooled in what it's like to be a black man in America. Every black man..... especially a black man from his era.... knows the consequences of negative interaction with those in authority. Unless he temporarily lost his sanity or is suffering from dementia, I find it difficult to believe that he would put himself in harm's way.

I would expect him to go nuts the same way that black congresswomen went nuts went the DC police asked for ID because she wasn't wearing her congressional pin. Plenty of celebs of any race act like jerks when questioned.

this is a man that has decades studying victim mentality and how it has affected African American identity politics.

He's an expert at it in and out of class. Oh well, he can use it in his next book or on the wine and cheese circuit. Poor baby.

Do you know this man, or at the very least have you read any of the many interview's he's given. Have you read any of the books or scholarly works that he has published? I don't think it's too far fetched to say that you'll answer NO to each and every one of those. So it's safe to say that you know nothing of the man outside the innuendo and conjecture surrounding this situation. It's generally good form to at least have a rudimentary knowledge of the subject in which you are going to post on.
