Thanks! :D u guys are great! really appreciate the congrats! i actually feel better now- the stress is fading away. it feels amazing that the dream is becoming real- all the things i have imagined sharing with her will start to happen soon. this may sound over the top, but being the romantic i am, i have deprived myself of any type of fun or enjoyment for the past year becuz i wanted to wait and enjoy things with her. i havent been to a movie, out to a nice dinner, any kind of concert or dancing or anything fun really- because i want to do those things with her. To a certain degree it will feel like the 1st time for me as i see the wonder and excitement in her eyes. :lol:

im working on getting plane tickets this week...she has to complete a course she was taking this month and im going to get her Labor Day weekend. After we get back, i will finally post pictures of us so you will know who your been in contact with......we will have a small wedding ceremony in Oct and a bigger wedding next year. honeymoons....im thinking Vegas for the 1st one and Cancun for the 2nd. She was freaked out by the swine flu but hopefully by Fall 2010, that will be a thing of the past. when i get time i will post her interview experience, gonna need some time to write that one down. anyway, thanks again and good luck to you and all on VJ

okay, going to try to recount Chenelle's interview appointment. as usual, she had to get there early, no cel phones allowed so we were cut off. im here sweating bullets for her, wishing i could be there for support even if they wouldnt let me in the interview. First, some lady starts going thru the documents in not such a nice way [ she was a local- non american ] she started asking questions to my fiancee [ not her job to do ] questions like;

1 are you sure you want to marry him? he's been married before and has a kid

2 arent you going to miss your country?

she got an attitude because she had to sift thru the papers. im sorry she had to do her job! anyway the general attitude of the workers was that they were doing you a favor and not their job=power trip. finally she got to talk to the consulate officer- she was American, with a nicer personality.

still all didnt go smooth. when i finally heard from her, she said she was told that we needed my 2008 taxes and to bring the info back the next friday. she was discouraged. i was more optimistic. just paperwork- get it , send it. so i fedex ed it down asap. [ i filed our case in early Jan before i had filed my 2008 taxes, and it slipped my mind to include them when i took her the paperwork in May. i actually thought they would have used 2007 tax forms, due to the time i filed ] here's where things get cloudy-as in bad. in 2008 i was unemployed for a few months. the company i was working for in Trinidad had laid off its American workers and owed us money. they had us on hold for months, waiting for pay and to see if we would be called back, which never happened. of course i wanted to be called back so i could be close to Chenelle again. i was upset but working for that company made it possible for me to meet Chenelle- catch 22! anyway, no job for several months=not a very good tax return- didnt make as much money as i normally would have. in short my 2008 taxes sucked and it showed on the return. so when the consulate officer looked at it, she said we needed a joint sponsor. Another trip back to the embassy and she has to take a taxi each time roundtrip-frustrating. When she told me that , she was really discouraged and talked about giving up [ something she didnt mean- just the stress talking ] i scrambled to get a joint sponsor, which took about a week, did the forms/info, sent it back fast via fedex. she got it, took it in to the embassy and the visa was approved. she is picking up her passport and visa even as i type this. we are so glad this part of the journey is over. i know we have stuff to do when she gets here-BUT she will be HERE and we will be TOGETHER to go thru it. so now, im working on the plane tickets and come Labor Day weekend, i will go to bring my bride home. Thanks to everyone for their best wishes and congrats. Good luck and best wishes to everyone on this journey/

Congrats.

I am truly happy it worked out for you. In a way, hearing you guys go through it made me feel less nervous about upcoming things. Been reading about denials for no good reason and finally came across a happy ending.

I would not want to have to go back and forth to the interview and embassy like that seeing as the only embassy in Malaysia is 2.5 hours flight across the South China Sea from where I am. Can't imagine flying back and forth like that!

Wish you the best of luck! take a tip from me and go over your paperwork several times- it will save you time, stress and headaches. if i had included my 2008 tax return the first time- they wouldnt have had to request it and it wouldve saved time, money to send it fedex, another trip to the embassy and the stress it caused. of course i did include the 2007 one and didnt think they needed 2008, blah, blah, blah- you probably already read about that mess. the point is, go over all your papers ahead of time, pray alot and be agressive. a few times we got different answers from the embassy personnel and we both had to keep calling to get the right info. if we had listened to one person, we would still be waiting for our interview appointment which they said would be at the end of August. and we already have the visa! :rofl: those crazy embassy workers! :bonk: anyway good luck and hope all goes well for you. i see by your timeline you are kinda just getting started. dont freak out- there will be times when you think you will lose your mind from the waiting and not hearing anything. stay busy to make the time pass [ plan your wedding and honeymoon ] and just settle in for 6 months- we filed in Jan and got done in July so it takes about 6 months without too many problems. Good luck and keep us posted on how things are going. :thumbs:

Congrats on your visa, you two will be together soon enough! I'm glad she could just take a cab to the embassy, here in Brazil I'm gonna have to fly 3 hours to get there. Anyways, congrats again!
