Hello Folks, I had a few basic questions on filing for I-130 petition in New Delhi. Anyone who has done this is the recent past at New Delhi, please post your experience and comment on my understanding that follows.

My wife who is a US citizen is filing for I-130 for me(Indian citizen). She and I have stayed in India for the last 1 year and she is also employed here at this time.

From what i gather from the USCIS website and New Delhi embassy website, the first process in doing this is to actually file the I-130 in person at New Delhi. This is the only consulate that accepts I-130 petitions even though my VISA jurisdiction is Mumbai. Am i correct in understanding this. Once the petition is approved in person will it then get transferred to Mumbai where we pay the fees of $355+$45. i.e. the fees are for the VISA processing and not for the I-130 petition filing?

I am a bit confused after hopping through multiple websites and forums. I hope someone who has recently done this can clarify for me? Also, anybody know the current processing time in New Delhi?

Thank you.
