Hello! My fiancé and I are thinking of appyling for CR1 or K1 - I have my tourist visa (I'm Mexican) and I want to be able to come up and visit him (he's American) in the time we are waiting for the visa. Is one visa (CR1 or K1) more advantageous than the other, when it comes to entering the US to visit as a tourist? We want to be together and don't want to face the risk of deportation. Thanks for your help, very much appreciated! Good luck to all VJers! ;)

Neither one has an advantage over the other.

Just to remind you - if you're not already married, you are not eligible for a CR-1.

(Also to remind you of a previous post you made - http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...204950&st=0 some helpful information was given.)

At this time you can still go to the US and meet your fiance even if you started a K-1 process

but hurry cause i heard the US is soon gonna ask Visa just to be visiting...

since you don't need a visa just to travel your okay as it don't interfere with your non-immigrant status of the k-1

im saying that to you as its the same for canada and im going to see my fiance in august

Make sure you bring proof that you have intention of going back to mexico after

like a Job paper from your employer or a rent paper..dept stuff that keep you there and of course a plane ticket on the way back if you take plane...

You need to be married for CR-1.

You need to have met within the past two year in flesh for the K1.

Neither has any distinct advantage over the other in relation to a tourist visa. If anything, both would adversely affect it as to them it displays future immigration intent. You have to prove against this.

At the POE, you will have to show proof of social and economical ties to your country which could be things such as a lease for rented/owned house/property, bank account statements, letter from employer stating duration of employment and pay, membership card to something, return plane ticket, pictures of family.

Unfortunately the CR-1/K1 is not going to be used as proof that you will return to complete the process. From what I heard, it will be used against you as actual immigrant intent. But I would not lie about anything at the POE as some have had bans from lying about having a spouse/fiance in the US at the POE.

N-400 Stuff:
07/02/16 : N-400 sent

07/11/16 : NOA1

07/28/16 : Biometrics

04/03/17: Interview (approved)

04/14/17: Judicial oath ceremony
