First off... thanks to all those who consistently answer questions on this board... some of you must have incredible patience with people like me...

1. I believe that Yodrak informed me that the OF-169 is now the DS-2001. When I Google DS-2001, it brings up a few foreign (non-USA) embassy links, and this one link from the Dept. of State:

http://travel.state.gov/visa/laws/telegram...grams_1540.html

The most notable info from this link is:

"The DS-2001 has been redesigned as a one-page optional form to be used by applicants or their agents to notify post or NVC that they are ready for interview."

So then, if the form is "OPTIONAL", then what other way would we inform the NVC that we are ready for the interview?

2. Another helpful poster provided this helpful link for Dept of State forms:

http://foia.state.gov/FORMS/allforms.asp

Of course the form I am looking for, DS-2001, is conspicuous by its absence... does anyone know of a place to download this form?

Thanks in advance... B)

Maybe this is an obvious question.. but... when would a person tell their post or NVC that they were ready for an interview? I was under the impression that you get an interview, pretty much, whenever they schedule one. When would a person need to use this form?

thanks...

You send the DS-2001 to tell your Consulate, etc. that you have all the required documents to support your application for a visa and that you are ready for an interview, then an interview is scheduled for you and the interview letter is mailed to you. To get a general idea of how it works, look how it works in London:

http://london.usembassy.gov/cons_new////visa/iv/ds2001.html

8-12-2004 I moved to New Zealand(married my Kiwi in US 5/04)

1-12-2006 Received initial packet - It has I-130, I-864 & DS-230 Part 1, DS-2001 & tons of instructions.

Gathering paperwork that we don't have:

5-30-2006 - I-130 FILED AND ACCEPTED BY AUCKLAND CONSULATE!- INTERVIEW: 6/13/2006

6-13-2006 - APPROVED!usaCa.gifnew_zeaC3.gif

6-14-2006 - VISA IN HAND D_SMIL112.gif

08-05-2006 -WE ARE HOME IN THE USA!!! flag12.gif

THREE HAPPY YEARS LATER:

5-10-09 - N-400 filed

8-24-09 - Interview

9-14-09 - Naturalization Oath Ceremony

For CR-1, the NVC (or consulate) will schedule your interview and/or forward your case to the consulate (depending on the beneficiary's country) after they have reviewed your case (this is when you get a case complete).
