Yeah if you have any suggestions for the site layout or just in general please let me know :). Post your comments in the site suggestions forum. Just today we updated the timeline images and how they look because a new member said they were hard to read. :)

Ya know how sometimes you can just TELL that someone has just jumped onto the board, created a profile and started asking questions immediately without even BOTHERING to read? That's probably what gets to those of us who have been around a while.

Hell, I remember my first few weeks on VJ. In fact, I didn't even log in as a member for a few weeks. I read. And I remember my head ABSOLUTELY swimming and my chest sort of tightening up - trying to grasp all the details.

If I have one word of advice to Newbies it would be to NOT worry about every single detail right now. Try to get a decent grasp of the stage you are either at right now or are about to enter. After you've studied that a bit (I would suggest absorbing the information over a few days) then try to get just a vague overview of what will be coming up down the road. For me, I just tried to learn the names of the different 'stages' of immigration and the current approximate cost.

If you try to take it all in now, it will overwhelm you and take your focus off where you should be - which is the present. Right now you need to concentrate on creating the most perfect complete petitions you can, as that will speed the rest of your journey.

If you take each step as it comes, you'll be a whole lot less stressed and in my opinion, less likely to make mistakes.

Thank you for that bit of advice ! Have mercy, I was going in a million directions and became extremely overwhelmed to the point of committing myself, and that is no joke. :help:

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Plus some people are just TOO lazy to search for the answer. Perfect example is for AOS "what is the nonimmigrant visa number?" I would like to have a dollar for the times that's been asked, but if people would take 5 minutes to search the site they would find the answer.

We have a winner. LOL

ok, to be fair... I wanted to see what I could find out about the "nonimmigrant visa number" so I just did a search for "nonimmigrant visa number" in the search bar on top of the page and I couldn't come up with an answer besides the most recent answer given concerning this.... Then I did a search of the FAQ maybe not a thorough search but I looked under the subjects I thought were applicable and I couldn't find anything about the "nonimmigrant visa number"

6.2.1)...(newsgroup)...I-485 - Adjustment of status.... I am asked for my Nonimmigrant visa number, is this the one under the control number or is it the one at the bottom of the visa ??

A..(newsgroup)...On the adjustment of status forms, there is a box for the visa number. This is the red number printed on the K-1, not the visa control number. I know this because the interviewer went over the forms in front of us, and crossed out what I wrote in there (the visa control number) and replaced it with the red number.(Note: this is on the lower right side, under the "expiry date". It is not the long number written along the bottom edge of the visa.)

mdyoung,

Two answers, in fact!

Yodrak

With the K visas one person is a U.S. citizen, so not being able to understand the forms because English is no excuse. Plus some people are just TOO lazy to search for the answer.
