Spouse arrived in U.S. - How long until SSN and resident card?

My wife arrived in the U.S. with her immigrant visa on 7/11/2009. How long does it normally take to get the actual green card and the social security #. She was told that she didn't need to do anything else - that everyting would come in the mail.

Usually about 4 weeks for the GC, as far as the SSC should come in about 2-3 weeks, if not a visit to the local SS office may be in order. Congrats on the arrival

I went to the local SS office 3 weeks after my POE, applied for my SSN (even though I had checked off the box on the DS-230) and I received the card 6 days later. My green card arrived 1 month and 1 day after POE.

Yeap, my wife received her SSN in 2 weeks, and her G-card 1 month, and 4 days.
