Sorry about your loss Gemmie (F)

Currently, the US Embassy in London is not as punctual or quick as they used to be in replying to emails. They are taking about a week on average, but people are waiting longer as well. I hope that DOS or your Congressman/Senators can be of benefit to you.

Visa Journey completed, but we are still here to provide support! :)

I'll try contacting my congressman tomorrow.

I don't want to risk going to England and not being able to get back in; I'm not leaving without that document, so if I can't get it, I'm not going.

Maybe it will turn out for the best even if you can't go immediately. Right at the beginning there's a rush of family members to comfort and support, but it's later when things have to be dispositioned and a house taken care of that the second, later visitors (you) can be invaluable.

I'd also vote for calling DOS or the extortion line. We know they can be unhelpful when it comes to status issues, but perhaps in the urgency of your case they'll have the chance to shine and show us how helpful they can be.

March 7, 2012: Tracking says "notice left"...after a phone call to post office.
